Product Description

Color: Black Leatherette

From the Manufacturer

The Joovy Nook is amazing. First of all, it looks fantastic. It has clean lines and is unobtrusive in my kitchen. I was fearful that I would not be able to keep its beautiful white leatherette so white after strawberries and tomato sauce but tada it's still white. It wipes down easily and on occasion you can take the entire seat cover off and put it in the washer and dryer. A leatherette, really. The tapestry fabric in Orangie and Greenie are also washable. When I say unobtrusive, I mean it. It folds completely flat with one hand. Many high chairs fold, but I have never seen one that folds this flat, this easily. But the best thing about it is when my 18 month old walks over to it, swings the tray open and attempts to climb in. The swing open tray is awesome. In the past, that was always a HUGE problem for me, where to put the tray. Many high chairs claim to have places to store the tray but it is always a cumbersome project to get the tray stowed away. The Nook's swing open tray makes it easy to store the tray and to put your child in and out of the high chair when holding your child, you step on the front leg cross bar, press the button under the right side of the tray and swing it open, put him/her in. It is simple and easy, no more needing to remove the tray and find a spot to set it down. Plus, the tray has a removable tray on top that can be easily popped off and rinsed after a messy meal (it's dishwasher safe too). The top tray is a lifesaver, making food disappear before it makes the transition from eating to wearing, instantly leaving a clean tray for a book, toy or clean second course. This small feature can extend quality time at dinner time. The top and bottom tray are easily removed for cleaning as needed. In the daily grind of motherhood, it's the little things that are so great. It's so nice when a product performs and helps to simply your life.

The Petite Consumer Says: If you need a high chair that is convenient and can easily be stored, look no further. The Joovy Nook is stylish, compact, and great for small spaces.

I love the way the chair looks and that is why I ordered it. But unfortunately the fact that you can't push the tray up close to your baby is a real disadvantage. My baby boy is big and was able to sit in a high chair at a few months old, but the large gap didn't create a secure enough fit. Now that he is 8 months there is still a large gap, and he is 24 lbs and very tall for his age. The gap means that more food ends up on the floor or in his lap, not to mention I have stabbed him in the eye, nose, cheek a few times with the spoon since the gap allows him to lunge towards the incoming spoon. If the tray was adjustable I would love this high chair. :(

I've had this high chair for 4 months now and I love it. A lot of people have complained about various aspects of the tray. I understand everyone has their preferences, but I really think the tray is great.

Someone mentioned their child couldn't reach the edges of the tray. I'm surprised by this, because my daughter at 6 months could reach all the way to the cup holder (much to my dismay, since now I have to hold the cup I feed her from instead of setting it on the tray). She's in the 50th percentile, so just average size. Sure the straps have to be loosened for her to do it, but since she's not riding in a car or down a bumpy road in her high chair I feel she's pretty safe with the straps a little loose.

As far as the gap between the tray and baby being too big? My philosophy on this is: THE TRAY WILL NEVER BE SO CLOSE TO YOUR CHILD THAT NO FOOD WILL FALL INTO THEIR SEAT. If your expectation is that your high chair should keep your toddler's food out of their lap, you're going to be pretty disappointed. Feeding babies will always be messy no matter what high chair you buy.

I love, love, LOVE the swing out tray. Getting my daughter in and out of it is SO easy. I don't have to struggle to get her legs in and out of little leg holes. I don't have to find a clear space on my counter or table to put the tray while I get the baby out. To me this overrides any concern about the gap between the baby and the tray.

We looked at almost every highchair out there and went with the Joovy Nook for a few reasons.

1: Safety features: Five point harness, middle bar between legs, wide bottom for balance.

2: Practical: Removable tray that fits in the dishwasher, cup holder, folds down flat and even fits in our Jeep for travel, has a handle when folded and the leatherette is easy to clean and wont stain.

3: Looks: No crazy colors to clash with our kitchen or dining room, and no toys attached to distract our son from his task (eating)

4: Durability: It will last and its good for a girl or boy, so we can save this highchair for our next baby.

so i really fell in love with the bloom chair when i was pregnant.......i was VERY close to buying it when my son was 3 months old.....thank god there was a baby bjorn babysitter in the store that i decided to get instead....holding off on buying a high chair until i really needed it.....

so at 11 months....it was time for a high chair.....baby was picking up finger foods great.....and i wanted a little more freedom...as his chair was my lap at the dinner table up until then.........when i went back to look at the bloom...i couldnt justify paying 400+ for a highchair.....not only that i realized the value in having EXTREMELY portable/fold-up-able baby gear...for our lifestyle........i however dreaded the search....because i refused to have one of those big clunky gerneric FP type highchairs.......function AS WELL AS design are very important to me.

thank goodness for the joovey NOOK......i searched it out online...and then my local buy buy baby had it for $120....an i fell in love with the look.....more so--believe it or not than the bloom chair.......my baby likes having his own little spot to eat...(on most days...) and i can put it up in the kitchen so he can eat while i prepare meals...and take it down in the evening very easily.

PROS:
-lightweight
-fold up COMPACT...you can put it in a nook or behind the door
-stylish!
-leatherette wipes very easily
-removable tray makes for easy clean up
-the price

CONS:
-tray is sometimes hard to swing open..especially with one hand.....which if you are holding baby to put him in....this is how you are always opening the chair...the makers really need to pay attention to this design flaw.
-tray is not adjustable...

I have the orangie version of this chair. It is bright, bright, bright orange! I love that, but others may not. It really is super light and folds up to the size of a beach chair. Very flat. We take it everywhere. It's got a very secure 5 point harness. I was worried about cleaning up the material but it cleans up very well! Even foods that would typically stain, like blueberries, wipe off easily. The cover can actually be removed, too, and put into the washing machine if you need to. But i haven't found the need to do that yet. Downsides include the fact that when you take the baby out of the highchair with the tray swung out to the side there is nothing holding him in once you unbuckle it. There's a safety piece on the swing out try that goes between the baby's legs, but it's not there when you swing the tray out. That being said, it's really easy to remove the baby without swinging the tray out. And that's because, yes, there is a HUGE gap between the strapped in baby and the tray. That's the worst thing about this chair. I don't really care about that though because messy eating doesn't bother me. But if it does bother you then this is probably not the high chair for you! For us the portability and storage aspects of this chair are well worth the mess.

EDITED 7/19/13: I still like this chair a lot after using it for the past year. However, I have one complaint. I recently attempted to remove the cover to put it in the washing machine and it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. But I think this might be a flaw in my particular chair and not all of these chairs. Everything came out/off/through really easily except I could not get the big plastic piece on the strap that goes between the baby's legs out of the hole in the seat cover.
