4.0 out of 5 stars Hill's got what it takes--except the right break

Before Christina Aguilera and Jessica Simpson(I'm leaving Britney Spears and Mandy Moore out of that group, because frankly, they don't have the vocal prowess to qualify for inclusion), there was Jordan Hill. With an exceptional voice that posessed maturity far beyond her years(she was only 17 at the time of the album's release), she clearly owned the potential to go far beyond what was actually acheived with this record. It is that talent, in fact, that is the saving grace of this otherwise traditional paint-by-numbers romp through prepackaged, AC friendly hits.

Unfortunately, those tracks never became famous, due to the impeccably poor timing of her record label, choosing to release this album in an industry that was still reeling off of Pearl Jam and Nirvana's tortured-grunge rock. In light of that, it's not terribly difficult to see how this album--and more importantly, its star--got lost in the shuffle. What is even more of a shame, is that it is probable that if Ms. Hill were to release a new album tomorrow, she would be compared to Christina Aguilera, despite coming 3 years before her. That truly is a shame--Hill had, and still has, a vocal presence that deserves to be immortalized on more than a forgotten 1996 debut. Hopefully she will resurface once again and demonstrate that yes, Virginia, there is indeed a young female singer out there who can do just that--SING.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Voice, Good Songs, excellent album, June 8, 2000
This review is from: Jordan Hill (Audio CD)
{I wrote this review in hope to raise more awareness of a wonderful singer - Jordan Hill.}

The debut album of Jordan Hill is a commendable one. It contains a good mix of soulful ballads and uptempo songs of which Jordan Hill sizzles in both. All the songs are good, of which several are cover songs (e.g.Too Much Heaven). Some of the noteworthy songs include "Remember Me This Way, How Many Times, I Just Had To Hear Your Voice".

Besides the good songs in the album, Jordan Hill's voice itself is a enjoyment to listen : sensual, delicate yet powerfully soulful too. In fact, Jordan Hill has one of the best female voices in the diva arena.

While Jordan Hill can be likened to other pop princesses like Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera, she actually came out much earlier than them. Yet in terms of popularity, she seems to garner little ground. It's a REAL pity that her record company did not promote her more. Given her good-girl image (ala Jessica Simpson)and superb voice, she could have had a big career.

VERDICT: This album is a MUST-HAVE if you're into female pop singers.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Young, Talented, Overlooked Singer, February 9, 2005

Jordan Hill was ahead of her time when she released her debut CD. It came out before Britney, Christina, Hilary, Jennifer, and all of the young, beautiful female singers hit the scene.

For The Love of You is great, and did not get the airplay or DJ support it deserved. Do yourself a favor and buy this CD. You won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can singing save a singing career?, May 5, 2003

I much agree with one of the earlier reviews, that it is just a shame of talent like that of Jordan got forgotten. I have had this album now for quite some time, although it took me until 1999 or 2000 to track it down far enough for me to get it all the way over here.

I know for a fact that a new single of her is coming, I believe it is due this june. And I think that even though she will be compared with Christina (because Jordan now has blond hair too), she will pass that test. Jordan has such vocal abilities and power that she can, to say the very least, give Christina a run for her money! But it should be said the other way around. The vocal power of this young woman is incredible! On this album it mostly shows when singing songs like "Make it right" and "Too much heaven" of and with the Bee Gees.

"Remember me this way" is the most familiar song, owing to the Casper movie. But actually, to make a long story short, this is a great album from an even better vocalist!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST, December 16, 2001

This has got to be one of the most wonderful albums I have ever had the privelage of listening to and owning. I found this CD when Casper came out and I searched for the song "Remember Me This Way", I found Jordan Hill and what a voice. The songs on this CD are great and her version of "Too Much Heaven" along with the Bee Gee's, just gets to me. I would have trouble choosing a favorite song off this CD, two that come to mind other than "Remember Me This Way" would be, "How Many Times" and "I Just Had To Hear Your Voice." Both beautiful songs. It's a shame Jordan Hill hasn't put out anymore albums. I hope one day she does, I will be ready to buy it as soon as it's available.
I definitely recommend you buying and listening to this ENTIRE album, I believe you wil fall in love with her voice, just as I did.

she was always the dreamer wanting a career in music .. we had four courses/classes together and all she could talk about was making it big some day...
she had the talent, and the vocal coaching paid off.
glad to see her pursuing her dreams and making it a reality
by the time she came back for prom she was all excited about the release of her first cd
sad to see it didnt fair well with the young crowd of the time.
there are some good songs in this cd
sad to see it was short lived but i hear she may be working on a comeback.
she really had come a long way.
hope all is well with her ( to some she was a snob, but i never listened .... after all it was hamilton !)
best of luck to you.
you still hAVE A GREAT VOICE !
GOD BLESS
DONT FORGET YOUR FRIENDS.

In response to many of your questions, Jordan is currently writing new songs in Nashville right now. There will be a dvd of her coming out in the next month or two and as far as a second album, I expect it to be out either later on this year or next year. Just know that she will use the name Riley Jae.

This album is great, but when is she going to release an album with new material? She's too good to just have one CD out there.

I bought this when it came out in 96. I still listen to and love it. I constantly check on more from her. How could this be all there is? Where is she and what is she doing now? Kimba Scherer in Colorado

5.0 out of 5 stars looking for a new cd, December 4, 2004
This review is from: Jordan Hill (Audio CD)
I check back periodically to check on Jordan Hill's list of cds. Why is this woman not producing more music. She is awesome beyond words. Her voice is great! I've had this cd for ages and I still enjoy it. Please make another cd. I can't believe you're not a major star. I heard Jordan Years...ago on our local radio station 99.1 KGGI and I ran out to find this cd. Where's the music?
