Don't Measure Up, November 4, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Jordan's Heart (Zebra Historical Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Because my name is Jordan, I was immediately drawn to the heroine and the title of the book even though I've never heard of the author. I watch very little television and between going to college and work, I choose to read books, all kinds of books including hundreds of romances.
Jordan's Heart does not measure up to most of the books I've read and that is why I gave it 2 stars. The storyline developed logically (too logically) and realistically (but boring). The writing skills of Ms. Collins, however, is rather good and does stand up to other books. But I do not buy books alone for an author's good writing because this is expected and there are many great writers. I buy books more to entertain and for a page turning plot. I have to read the first few chapters and be downright involved in the story, wondering what will happen next and where the author will take us. This is where the book fails to measure up. In all honesty, I did not finish the book (a little more than three-quarters) and for me, that is rare. I do not think it's worth an honorary space on my limited bookshelf since I have hundreds of romance keepers filling it now and I'm sure there are many more out there.
