5.0 out of 5 stars THE Best
The José Eber Curling Iron is the BEST I have ever used. I have that flat stick straight Asian hair that DOES NOT curl. Ever. But the stylist proved me wrong and the curls held through brushing AND a night of sleep and rebrushing. They went from Shirley Temple-like ringlets to really pretty loose curls. Everyone was throwing compliments around and I just HAD to go...

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware of vendor
This product is not very good and it does not have different setting which means that you will always use the same temperature and therefore your hair will be damaged faster. There are much better ones in the market, do your homework and pick one with multiple settings and the ability to change the size of wand. As for the vendor, beware that they are very uncooperative...

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great!, February 27, 2009
Great curling iron!. I have straight, straight waist length hair, this iron curls my hair and it stays for 2 days. I don't use it all the time as I am concerned about the affects of heat on my hair (It has only one heat setting), and you have to be careful the first few times you use it or you will burn yourself...I have scars to prove it. It comes with one heat resistant glove to wear on the hand your use to wrap the hair around the shaft.....you have to hold the hair in place a couple of seconds, all the way to the tip of the iron in order to have even curls. I find the glove awkward to use. I bought a friend one for her birthday and she loves it tooo!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality, easy to use, beautiful curls!, July 19, 2010
This review is from: Jose Eber Curling Iron, Black, 19mm (Health and Beauty)
I chose this particular curling iron for these reasons:

- it was dual-voltage (110-220V). That excluded most everything else.

- it was clipless. (Not long ago I bought my first clip iron, the cheap Revlon Ceramic Curling Iron - 1.5''. My intention was to "test-drive it" and find out what I liked and disliked about it, as to be better informed on what to look for in a more expensive one. I knew right off the bat that I hated the clip; not only I found difficult to slide my hair through it (the amount of friction and resistance didn't seem right), it left ugly creases on my hair. Maybe there is a better technique that will leave your hair smooth all over, but I didn't intuitively find it.)

- the brand. (I was not exactly familiar with Jose Eber, but the brand in general seems to have really good reviews and seen as a good one with quality items.)

- the barrel size. (I knew that my 1.5" by Revlon was way too thick. I trusted the review by "MDLC", who wrote that 19" was the perfect barrel size. (Thank you! It really is!)

- the price. (Nothing about this item suggests that it only cost $36, including shipping. The quality, the fancy box it came in, the gloves included... did I mention the quality? It's easily worth thrice as much. Funny, my cheap test iron wound up costing only a bit less than my definitive one.)

- pink handle, anyone? (Yes, I got the pink version, but it's the exact same iron as this one.)

So far I've only used it once, but it was a GREAT first impression. While using the Revlon iron was very difficult, and the resulting curls were quite flat, this one was a dream! Grab a chunk of hair, wrap it around the barrel, hold it a few seconds... and voila, tight beautiful curl! Very easy and fun to do. I haven't experimented yet, but I'm sure you can use anywhere from thin strands of hair for a spiral look, to thick chunks for looser waves. And of course, whenever a curl comes too tight for your taste, smooth it a couple of times with your hand and it's softer.

One thing I learnt fast: DO NOT use the iron without the glove on!!! Even being careful, I got burnt very easily - but hey, one look at the naked barrel and that's to be expected. I'm just hoping never to burn my wrist (that looks very likely) but we shall see.

There is no temperature adjustment, the only option is "very hot", so if you have fragile thin hair, keep that in mind... It's no problem for me.

Highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars awesome curling iron-, December 16, 2008
I first seen this curling iron at the mall for $169! I thought it was neat but couldn't afford paying that much. To my delight I found it on Amazon for $37. Sweet. My daughter and I have super fine hair and anytime we curl our hair the curls fall out within minutes. Not with this curling iron... the curls stay all day. There are different ways you can use this to create different looks and it takes a bit of getting used to not having the clamp thingy but this is for sure a great tool!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value at Almost Any Price, May 2, 2010
By
One of the few hair product items that delivers. Every girl in my office has one of these now because the results speak for themself.
If you are on the fence...go ahead and get it. I will say it is a little weird to get used to at first...and curls come out pretty 'tight' at first...but after they fall a little bit your hair will be beautiful. Tons of compliments the first day I used it. Quick heat up and makes hair shiny. You can by a stand separately to sit it in...which I wish I did have a better one than the one I got. This size barrel seems to look the best on my hair and other girls in the office even though I usually go for a bigger barrel on a regular curling iron.

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC!, January 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My hairdresser curled my hair with it, and it looked incredible. I ordered one for myself, hoping that I could get close to how she made it look...and I did! It is incredible, and creates perfect curls. TIP: Spray each strand of hair with hairspray before curling.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really easy to use, September 23, 2010

I have naturally wavy hair, but some days I have to coax the wave out a bit more, so I decided to pick up this curling wand on days when I want more curl to my hair. This is so easy to use, and so much faster than using a curling iron!

Since I've only had it a few weeks and only use it every few days, I'm still playing around with the various ways to use it since the amount of hair you wrap around the wand determines the type of curl you get. There are a lot of videos on that famous video website you can watch (I don't think I can mention the website name here, but it's the one whose initials are YT) to help you figure out how to use a curling wand like this one.

The 19mm size also seems to be a nice size barrel for most hair lengths. It can be used to create tighter curls, but also nice waves.

Note that this wand doesn't have a graduated barrel either (it's the same width all the way down the barrel), but it still works great. (I mention this only because other brands do have the graduated barrel, so someone buying this might think it has the same feature.)

Overall, this is a great product! Keep an eye on the price, too, since I paid a lot less than the price it's listed for today as I type this review. I think the price fluctuates.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing!, May 24, 2010
This review is from: Jose Eber Curling Iron, Black, 19mm (Health and Beauty)
I've always had trouble curling my hair with clamps. Everyone knows about that evil kink you get at the end when you use a regular clamping curling iron, and for some reason I always ended up getting that whenever I curled my hair. To this day, I still don't use any of my clamping curling irons even with the Jose Eber Curling iron.

Let me tell you, I am in LOVE with this curling iron. It is the best hair styling tool I have ever gotten. No matter whose curling irons I use, I always end up coming back to mine because it works so well with my hair. The curls last all day and I have stick straight hair. (Asian genes) I haven't tried sleeping with them because I have oily hair but I do know that when I take a nap for hours, they turn into softer waves.

I absolutely recommend getting this curling iron if you're looking for a good clampless curling iron. I have misplaced the glove that came with it, (if I did get one at least, it was a while ago. Can't remember.)but any other glove worked fine for me.

The only con I can talk about is that it's REALLY hot. That's good if you need a lot of heat to keep your curls, but it would be nice if it could be adjusted. The heat doesn't bother me, but it did however leave me with two scars on my chest (to which my friends make fun of me and call them hickeys). It's been a year and they're still there, but the result was so worth it and I have no other problems with this curling iron. Absolute wonderful product. Plus, you save a lot of money. :) A year ago I bought this curling iron as a curling iron newbie, and now I am a master at curling away people's hair. I suggest getting this iron if you really want something that lasts.
