I almost didn't buy this set because of the negative reviews on the stand. I am glad I bought it becaus the stand is excellent. It has large hooks on the top and I have had no problems with the utensils falling off. The only way I can see that people are having the utensils fall off the stand is if they leave them facing inward as that is the way they are shipped to make the shipping package smaller. The utensils themselves are excellent and look great.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these utensils. Joseph Joseph is amazing. I have had no such problem with the utensils falling off and I use it EVERY DAY. Yes, they would fall off if you spun it around REALLY fast, but if you treat it like you spent $50 on it, you don't have to worry. These are great quality and bring such a great life to my kitchen! You won't be disappointed.. Just don't pretend like it's a merry-go-round.

Although I regularly use only 3 of the 6 included tools, I loved the design so much I bought the whole carousel anyway. The weight in the handle of these utensils keeps the head raised off the countertop and eliminates the need for a spoon rest. The concept is great and overall I like the set, but I do have one issue.

The head of the ladle (yellow handle) is a bit on the heavy side, so if you get a little bit of "stuff" on it other than plain liquid/broth, it tips over very easily. Thinking that I had gotten a defective handle, I contacted Amazon/Joseph Joseph and they sent me a new ladle (just the ladle, not the whole carousel unit). Unfortunately, this new one also tips over easily...although it's marginally better. I've uploaded a picture with a dime in it (click under product images to see). In the picture, you can see that the head is tipped all the way down to the counter and the handle elevated up, not the head. A dime is really very light! If I get even a little tomato sauce on it, it will tip right onto the counter top. The new ladle tips over with 2 dimes in it.

I received the replacement ladle in January 2012, so perhaps this issue has been fixed since then.

I've been washing these Elevate nylon utensils in the dishwasher with no problems so far. The slight yellowing of the ladle head that you see in the picture is from turmeric (I've been trying Indian food), which will stain everything so this is not a big issue for me.

My two cents in on the carousel: if you face the utensils inward, they will fly off the carousel if you sneeze in its general direction. You have to face the utensils outward. They will stay put for the most part unless you turn it too fast or bump it too hard. However, for the next iteration, it would be nice if the hooks were a bit longer, or at a steeper angle to prevent any utensil fall-outs.

All in all, a set that does what it's supposed to do, for the most part. The beautiful design/colors alone were almost nice enough for me to buy it, so I am pretty happy with the purchase...but gotta dock a star because of the ladle.
