Joseph Griffin, the founder of the company, began the shoe business in 1991 with his wife Rosita in the hot, coastal jungles of southwest Ecuador. In 1998, the economy of Ecuador collasped, so the founder diverted all production to the U.S. market. The first U.S. customers were limited to small sizes, which were a perfect fit for the Asian communities of East L.A. Quickly, the company adjusted to the changes in the footwear marketplace. It tailored its collections to meet the need for quality, comfort, and destination-driven boutiques. The Joseph Griffin L.A. collection is named after the founder's son Joseph Lucas. This exclusive collection of boutique footwear is inspired by the new life of a son and the great gifts that come from an eternal spring filled with the brightest and most passionate colors.
