5.0 out of 5 stars A Masterstroke, April 30, 2009
This review is from: Joseph Haydn and the Classical Choral Tradition (Paperback)
This IS the holy bible for the music of Haydn. It is equal in footing to the great tower of Handel's Dramatic Oratorio and Masques by Winton Dean. It is to the Classical music era that Dean's is to the Baroque era.

No conductor, singer or musician should attempt Haydn until they have read this masterstroke. This is not a book for the unlearned in music but is to be digested by those who know music on a deep personal level. It is a rich investment into the performance practices of not only the Classical music of the time but also in the practices of the use of music in the church.
