This review is from: Joseph Hector Fiocco: Pièces de Clavecin - Ton Koopman (Audio CD)
Master Koopman always try's to play and preform on a way which is the best logical;
the way mented by the composer -in- , and using an instrument -from- his time.
In many works one have to be able to read between the lines, to also bring that
caracteristical spirit in to preformance what is nowere on paper , but is a mesterious feeling what transmit it selves by preforming the composition like
only the very few are capable of.
Its like a fine writer or good actor first studies a timeframe or the biography of a person in order to give that extra what gives his work the prtfectioneting tuch.
Master Koopman is one of them....It can be extremely experiënced on his performance of the trancripsion of Forquerays "pieces de viola da gamba" , where Mr Koopman is asking the very ultimate from his harpsichord.
On this recording of Fiocco , Master Koopman play's an
instrument consevated by museum in such a way that the acient settings, snares and
pen-tops (placktrums if You like) are all (authenticly) stil there.
Add up the fact that it is an instument from the inviroment of the composer; plus
this preformer; You wil experience a performance who brings You back in the Ostrian Dutch region (nowerday's Belgium) of the mid 18 hundreds ; the living inviroment of Fiocco. Its price more than rewarding !!!
