Product Description

Joseph Joseph’s Index chopping boards makes food safety in the kitchen a snap. The cutting board’s categorization system offers 4 color coded boards to distinguish at a glance which board is intended for which use: red for raw meat, blue for seafood, green for veggies and white for cooked foods. For further ease, the boards also have an illustrated tab indicating their use. The 4 boards store in staggered order making the right board readily accessible and are contained in a neat ABS storage case that has a non-slip base. Each board is made from dishwasher safe polypropylene.

Customer Questions & Answers

Love these boards and how they take up so little room on the counter.

There was also black marking on the side where the plastic was sealed on the boards and there were smudges on them as well.

I think if we had seen it in the store we would have bought a little bit bigger size.

I liked the concept of avoiding cross contamination of food and love the look of the self contained storage unit for these boards. It is attractive enough to sit out on the counter or stores nicely in a cupboard. The boards are nice but... Here's my "but", the cutting boards are just too small in size for real meal prep. If you are used to working with a small cutting board, then this will work for you. I'm not and find the small size a bit frustrating.

Personally I would not recommend these boards for anyone that is a serious cook. My friend is a culinary student studying to be a big time chef and she left one of her expensive knives at my place. When I used her knife on one of the boards I ended up with some slashes in it. However with my own regular quality knives they hold up fine. I usually only cook for 1 (myself. Occasionally I'll cook for 2 people) and most of the stuff I make comes from books like "make dinner in 15 minutes or less" so- I'm no cooking fanatic. I just wanted boards that would prevent contamination of foods while still being space-saving and functional. These fit the bill perfectly. For me the sizes of these boards are perfect and it was one of the reasons I got it. I don't have a lot of counter space and I can't lay out huge cutting boards. Plus I don't need huge cutting boards when I'm only cooking for 1 or 2 anyway. However if I was regularly cooking for more people the size of these would likely be too small for food prep(each measures 12 x 8).

This would make a great gift for a grad student or someone who's just moved out on their own; who wants to save money by cooking their own grub and doesn't have a lot of space to spare. I wouldn't give this set to someone like a mom with kids or any type of person that lives in their kitchen or uses top quality knives and fancy techniques. For someone like me however- these are pretty much perfect.

I am so dissapointed in this set, while it looked great and I love the idea of color coded --I unfortunately did not use them until after my "return period" had ended. I have only used the green one for vegatables and w/ chopping tomatoes, onions and guacamole the entire cutting surface of the board now has DEEP cuts in it--this is just from ONE use mind you! I cannot imagine if I had cut meat or something that would have required actual "cutting pressure" --be sure to save your money or if you do "risk" it do not be like me, too busy to cook for a while, due to our joyous new baby, and get stuck with a terrible quality product especially given how much was paid!

The holder is not as shown on picture. It is only a short sleeve doesn't go all the way up to top of boards. Other than that the boards are fine. Countertop tidier. Material of cutting boards not heavy duty so first use shows deep cuts already.

All the pictures of this product except for one customer-supplied photo do not show the actual product. We bought this because our daughter has one and this one appeared to be the same product -- HOWEVER the cutting boards are not fully enclosed in their container so the outside boards are nearly fully exposed. As you use the boards they do scar so eventually that will be visible. The photos lead us to believe that the boards would be fully hidden in the case, and that what we want. So, beware, and know what you're buying as the pictures lie.

Who ever heard of a cutting board with a slick surface? Welcome to Joseph Joseph cutting boards. Want to stab yourself accidentally? Buy these.

My husband came home with these from Costco. I thought these looked great and the concept of color coded cutting boards seemed very cool. But, what a horrible idea. It's aesthetically pleasing. But my first attempt at cutting a piece of meat, the meat slipped off of the cutting board and the knife barely missed my hand. Why would meat slip on a cutting board?!? Because the cutting boards are a nonporous smooth surface. Not ideal for a cutting board.

I picked these up at Costco for half the price listed here, but they are an incredible set and worth the money. Love how they're organized and help keep me organized! Nice design, nice quality and easy to store.

I thought the case was going to be stainless steal. The case turned out to be some type of silver painted light weight plastic.
