This colander / scooper has a multitude of evenly spaced holes that are just the right size - for a cat litter box. That's right, I apologize Joseph² for buying this awesome strainer for my cat. I was just tired of so many small clumps falling through the slats of the poorly designed litter scoops available in retail and pet stores. My kitten goes frequently as you would expect from a growing animal, so the clumps are rarely solidified enough to come out unbroken. The pet scoop was dropping particles that prevented the clean up from really cleaning the sand. Enter the J². The holes are perfectly sized and plentiful enough to get even the small particles of waste while the sand flows through back to the box. It has a long handle and the rigid design lets you literally scrape the sides of the box to get it clean. It is the cat litter scoop I have always wanted, and if your cat likes to sleep on the bed you should want it too. Joseph² - sell it in pet stores! Send me a royalty check!

This scoop colander is a really convenient size, holding as much as a small bowl. The scoop is roughly 6" long, 4.75" wide and 2" deep at its outermost edges, with the handle adding another 7.5" length.

I don't deep-fry food, so I've only used it for scooping food out of boiling water but it works well and still looks as good as new after several runs through the dishwasher. The holes are big enough that water can escape freely, but small enough to scoop up peas.

This is definitely too big to fit in my utensil jar and takes up quite a bit of room in the drawer, so the hole in the handle is handy for hanging the scoop colander up.

This scoop is great for straining out more delicate things, like ravioli and gnocchi, where dumping into a colander can be damaging. And you can move items directly from boiling water into a pan with your sauce, which is excellent for pasta. It is hefty size to pick up a lot of pasta at once, but you will still have to make a few 'trips.' Also, the straining holes are of sufficient size to drain easily.

I got one for the cat box in gray and one for the kitchen in red. It's so much sturdier than any litter scoop! Despite the grossness of having the same tool for the kitchen and litter box, it does well in both places. I was on a liquid post-surgery diet and used this to strain the soups I was having. worked great and was easy to clean. Sturdier than a lot of large colanders, but fits in the utensil holder.

Since purchasing this colander, I have used it for a myriad of things! We have scooped out pasta, vegetables, pretzels, wontons, dumplings and more!

This is a great size, not too large and not too small. The color is wonderful, being not neon green but not puke green either.

The plastic has taken several runs in the dishwasher and thus far has held up wonderfully.

Instead of having to set up a colander, empty a pot into it, and then move the contents to the next pot, I can just scoop and go. Easy clean up.

Got the idea from other user reviews, & I have to agree, this is perfect for scooping out of the litter box the smallish portions that break off from the bigger clumps, which ultimately extends the cleanliness-life of the litter & saves me money in the long run.

It took me a long while to decide I wanted to get a scoop colander. I just didn't realize the value of it, before. Until one day I knew I wanted to save the liquids from the stock, but wanted to scoop the veggies/meats/bones out.

I had to fiddle around with a large colander/pot to get the stock fluids safely transferred. However, since I've purchased my Scoop Colander, I've made stock three more times and it is SO MUCH EASIER! Yes, I know - it seems silly. But really, you should try it - leaving the stock to cool in the pot I made it in, while pulling the meat/bones/veggies aside for dinner or whatever I intended them for is much nicer. And less mess. And fewer dishes. All huge bonuses to me!

I've also recently started making homemade mac & cheese, so having the colander to lift the pasta while I drain *most* but not *all* the liquids is helpful, too. AND fishing tea bags out of the bottom of a gallon jar once I've made sun tea (I can't let tea get too strong, or it upsets my stomach). AND scooping things out of hot oil.

Do yourself a favor and grab one. I love mine!
