Rich and Flavorful,

This review is from: Joseph Nicolas Pancrace Royer: Premire Livre de Pièces pour Clavecin (Audio CD)
If you enjoy French harpsichord music (Couperin, Rameau), then strap-on your seatbelt. Mr. Pancrace Royer wrote rich, affective music, including a few fireworks. Think of the thickest, French sauces you may know to go over vegetables, fish, or meat.
Claveniste expert Christophe Rousset takes to these pieces with his usual flair, leaving us some delicious morsels of one of France's lesser well-known harpsichordists. Jazz-up your French harpsichord collection with this one... the recording features great music and an instrument that has its own quality of richness, too. |
