This colander / scooper has a multitude of evenly spaced holes that are just the right size - for a cat litter box. That's right, I apologize Joseph˛ for buying this awesome strainer for my cat. I was just tired of so many small clumps falling through the slats of the poorly designed litter scoops available in retail and pet stores. My kitten goes frequently as you would expect from a growing animal, so the clumps are rarely solidified enough to come out unbroken. The pet scoop was dropping particles that prevented the clean up from really cleaning the sand. Enter the J˛. The holes are perfectly sized and plentiful enough to get even the small particles of waste while the sand flows through back to the box. It has a long handle and the rigid design lets you literally scrape the sides of the box to get it clean. It is the cat litter scoop I have always wanted, and if your cat likes to sleep on the bed you should want it too. Joseph˛ - sell it in pet stores! Send me a royalty check!

This scoop is great for straining out more delicate things, like ravioli and gnocchi, where dumping into a colander can be damaging. And you can move items directly from boiling water into a pan with your sauce, which is excellent for pasta. It is hefty size to pick up a lot of pasta at once, but you will still have to make a few 'trips.' Also, the straining holes are of sufficient size to drain easily.

Instead of having to set up a colander, empty a pot into it, and then move the contents to the next pot, I can just scoop and go. Easy clean up.

Looks good, works well,
This review is from: Joseph Joseph Scoop Colander, Green (Kitchen)
This scoop colander is a really convenient size, holding as much as a small bowl. The scoop is roughly 6" long, 4.75" wide and 2" deep at its outermost edges, with the handle adding another 7.5" length.
I don't deep-fry food, so I've only used it for scooping food out of boiling water but it works well and still looks as good as new after several runs through the dishwasher. The holes are big enough that water can escape freely, but small enough to scoop up peas. This is definitely too big to fit in my utensil jar and takes up quite a bit of room in the drawer, so the hole in the handle is handy for hanging the scoop colander up.

Since purchasing this colander, I have used it for a myriad of things! We have scooped out pasta, vegetables, pretzels, wontons, dumplings and more!
This is a great size, not too large and not too small. The color is wonderful, being not neon green but not puke green either. The plastic has taken several runs in the dishwasher and thus far has held up wonderfully.

We saw this at Bed, Bath and Beyond for the same price ($6.99), but opted to get it on Amazon since there would be no additional charge for tax (or shipping). Have used it so much already! Is just the right size to scoop out about a serving or two of pasta, veggies, beans, fruits, etc. with one swipe. Very sturdy and well built and love the green color!

I love this product! It's so convenient, especially if you don't need to drain a large amount of pasta or other foods. It's very strong and able to hold a heavy amount of food without bending. The holes are just the right size to efficiently drain.

Bought this at a kitchen gadget store.. paid @ $11 and LOVE IT! A single portion of pasta, berries, whatever.. this awesome tool is in a container between the stove and sink and gets used more often than about any gadget in my kitchen... and I love kitchen toys... Try it you will love it..

I've used this to fish pasta out of the water in heavier pots. It takes a bit more time but it's really a good product. I'm thinking I may use it to pour out smaller pots as well. The color is pretty funky (in a good way!) too.

Why didn't somebody think of this before. The only things that are closest to this is a slotted spoon or a spider skimmer. I can't use the skimmer much because I have teflon pans and the hole are too big for small pasta's and a slotted spoon isn't big enough. What is so good about this is that it can scoop up a complete batch of whatever you are cooking and strain the water off, no need for a colander. I use to have to reach for a colander every time I wanted to strain something. Another plus is that you can use it for deep frying too, I wouldn't use most of my plastic utensils in really hot oil all of the time. The scoop of this is big and deep so it is clumsier in smaller pans but for what you use it for it's the perfect size. Joseph Joseph is a great company with very useful products, I also have their uni-tool which I use all of the time and I'm planning to get their utensil set.
