About the Author

William W. Slaughter is a photo historian, archivist, and senior reference specialist for the LDS Church Archives. He is the author or co-author of several previous books, including, most recently, Prophets of the Latter Days (with Richard N. Holzapfel). He and his wife, Sheri, live in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Chad M. Orton is an archivist in the LDS Church Archives. He and his wife, Elizabeth, have seven children and live in Provo, Utah.

I recieved my book a couple of weeks ago and haven't been able to stop reading it. It is the perfect combination of Religion and History. Great for anyone who enjoys a great read regardless of what religion you are. I bought 3 other copies to give as gifts to friends! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

As someone who loves history and the Prophet Joseph, this book was brillant! I loved the combination of church events with what was happening in America at the time and reading the book gave me a greater knowledge of not only the Prophet Joseph but also of the time period. The imagery, stories and facts were fantastic and so informative. This book really does highlight that the Lord directed the Prophet Josephs being brought forth at that time. This is one of the best works on the Prophet Joseph that I have ever read!
