A beauty!,

This review is from: Josephine Marsh (Audio CD)
I got to hear Josephine Marsh and her band 2 years ago at the San Francisco Celtic Music & Arts Fair. It didn't take long before she had us all dancing. Went straight to a concession stand and purchased this CD. When I got home and slipped it into my CD player it didn't take long before she had me dancing again. The track Bainis/Michael Joe Kennedy's especially bubbles like water from a spring. Delightful recording. Absolutely delightful!

My Favorite Irish Accordion Album,
By
This review is from: Josephine Marsh (Audio CD)
I bought this on a whim in Ireland in 1996, long before Tara re-issued this independent recording. Nearly five years later, it's still one of my favorites of the 1000+ folk and celtic CDs on my shelves. The playing is light, sweet, bouncy and joyous. Never hurried. The tunes are often unusual, with strange twists and turns. Marsh also sometimes puts them in unusual keys and ornaments them in her own delightful way, making her playing stand out from all the other great Irish accordion players. Like Martin Hayes, Josephine Marsh is extremely inventive and innovative, while still sounding traditional.

i first heard the music of josephine marsh when she opened for another act at a club in greenwich village... gotta say her music was so wonderful i don't even remember who the other band was... afterwards i sat down and spoke with her and bought this cd and have listened to it countless times... each and every time a delight... in fact when i recently scratched my copy... i immediately bought another to replace it...! yes... it's that good.
