"...(a) well-illustrated, step-by-step book. It's designed for a beginning baker but more-experienced hands can also profit from his approach, which produces more deeply flavored loaves." - Florence Fabricant, The New York TImes
"A playful tone and style (the author begins the book with q&a with himself), and well-shot, full-color recipe photos make this an enjoyable read while educating home bakers on loaves from whole wheat to sourdough to cornbread. Additional recipes such as the B(L)T pocketbread, the Raddest Homemade Pizza the World Has Ever Known, and Seasonal Fruit Crumble make this a book you'll want to pull from the shelf well after your morning toast." - Publishers Weekly

If you have ever wanted to try baking your own bread, do yourself a favor and order this book. I loved it and the style it was written in and will continue to use it in the future. Bravo Mr. Baker, you have a fan.
Heavily peppered with language like "Rad!", "Awesome", "Carry on, Young Baker" etc ... this book may be endearing to a first-timer, but it's a little cutesy, to the point of being strained or even smarmy at times.
The first recipe is called "YOUR FIRST LOAF OF BREAD" so you know it's for inexperienced bakers.
On the plus side, for a first-timer, this is a good book. It goes into a lot of detail, and covers all the common pitfalls.
Also, for a lot of first-timers, this will be the only bread-making book you will ever need. Sandwich loaves, sourdough, desserts, and what looks like a pretty good pizza crust recipe are all in there.
The language and attitude are clearly oriented for teens and twenty-somethings, but if you don't mind being spoken down to, then Bro, it's like totally freakin' awesome, yo!
