4.0 out of 5 stars I think I saw this one when I was younger
Granted, several scenes and the general events don't jive well with what I remember. But the general idea (evil overlord ruling everything, ragtag bunch opposes them, multiple movielike parts) is close enough that I think it's a possibility. Plus the time frame that I watched it was about right. I like time traveling shows, but there are two few of them of decent value...

The "Josh Kirby...Time Warrior" series is made for teens, but amusing for adults who enjoy bad movies. This is the first part of a series which finds fourteen year old Josh traveling through space with a crazy old scientist, Irwin 1138, and his plastic companion, Prism, who has fiber optic hair which glows any time they are near a part of the nullifier. Plus the time frame that I watched it was about right. I like time traveling shows, but there are two few of them of decent value. This really is more for general campiness than any serious watching, but if you're looking for something that will engage your interest for hours, this is pretty much it.

What's the nullifier? It's a machine that can destroy the universe; since its parts are hidden in six different times, Josh, Irwin, Prism, and Azabeth Siege (a.k.a. the love interest) fly hither and yon trying to find the pieces before the evil Dr. Zoetrope can.

This episode happens to take them to eleventh century England, where the protagonists ally themselves with a blacksmith against an evil prince who has a tyrannosaurus rex to aid in his domination. (Seriously.) Fortunately Josh is able to lure a triceratops to the village with apples where he is able to saddle it and ride it into battle, foreshadowing the next episode, which is, sadly, sold separately.

This is a completely ridiculous series, but is amusing in the same way "Land of the Lost" is: anything combining time travel, spacecraft, dinosaurs, an evil prince, a renaissance fair, and an incinerated bicycle has to have some entertainment value, and this does if you watch it with the right mindset.
