Josh McDowell and Bob Hostetler have put together a simple to understand and easy to follow guide that will put you on the right track . It's a must for the layperson working with teenagers .

This is the definitive work on the basics of youth counselling. McDOwell offers solid advice on how to counsel teens through nearly any problem. Frank discussion of suicide, abuse, eating disorders, family life and sexuality help the untrained counselor aid teens. The writing is easy to follow and McDowell makes a point to never get "preachy" or take the Counselor toofar down a path. He offers referal information and soundly tells the counselor at what point to find help in the counselling session. Whether you are a Senior Pastor, Youth Pastor or a volunteer youth leader this book will help you better understand the minds and struggles of young people today while helping you know the best way to help them through.

This book is easy to read. I like the format and the design of the book. The author speaks clearly and in language that is understandable without the help of a dictionary. Fantastic book.

ANYONE NOT UNDERSTANDING TEENS WILL GET A GRASP ON A TEENS LIFE BY READING THIS YOU WILL LEARN THAT WHAT YOU SEE A TEEN DOING IS NOT WHAT THE TEEN MIGHT BE THINKING,IN OTHER WORDS YOU WILL LEARN TEEN SPEAK WITH THEIR ACTIONS NOT THEIR WORDS AND NEGATIVE BEHAVIOR MAY BE A WAY A TEEN IS CALLING OUT OR THAT FOR THE TEEN THIS IS THEIR SECURITY SO THEY DON'T FEEL THE PAIN OR GET LOOKED DOWN UPON BY OTHERS INCLUDING ADULTS BECAUSE THEY ARE STRUGGLING. FOR MANY TEENS BELIEVE THAT IT IS BETTER TO HAVE PEOPLE LOOK DOWN ON THEM BECAUSE OF BEHAVIOR RATHER THAN TO KNOW THAT THE TEEN IS HURTING.

I've come to know how important it is to meet the needs of today's youth. There are some youth struggling in areas where we may have not struggled and getting solid information to minister to these youth is vital. This book provides that information!

I have found this book to be immensely helpful and thorough. As parents we need all the resources we can get to help our kids. Excellent resource.

Clear-cut language, Biblically based with many references - this book was very helpful, and loved the way it's organized and catagorized.
