Review

Ms Erhardt has created this phenomenal story that ensnares the reader from the very first paragraph. I couldn't put the book down until the very last page. (5 angels, recommended read)

--Fallen Angel Reviews, fallenangelreviews.com

If you need a book to lift you up, this is the one to read. But make sure you have a lot of tissues handy for the tears of frustration and joy that are sure to flow as the story unfolds. 5 stars
--The Romance Studio, theromancestudio.com

If you are looking for a heartwarming and touching suspense, then I'd recommend this one. --longandshortreviews.blogspot.com

The reader will finish the book having learned about a person's loss of faith and the incredible journey to find it again while in the midst of a whirlwind of murder, suspense and lack of trust. --Simply Romance Reviews

The characters are so clearly drawn you immediately have a rapport with them and feel you could be friends, although there are a couple of characters I wouldn't want to meet on a dark night - or even in daylight, come to that. --Between the Lines

From the Author

This book came straight from my heart. As a stepmother of four children, I experienced Hope's pain as she struggled to gain custody of her stepson. Having experienced domestic abuse in my first marriage, just as Hope did, her experiences brought back memories, which although painful, are part of the healing process. Today I'm happily married to my soulmate. Our blended family of eight children has truly blessed me.

Product Description:
Hope Courtland escaped her marriage to save her life. Her only regret is leaving her four-year-old stepson, Joshua, behind. Though she wants custody, no attorney is willing to tackle her ex-husband in a custody battle. Hope's faith begins to falter. She learns that Joshua is paying the consequences for her freedom, and in an act of desperation, she kidnaps him. Suddenly, she becomes a suspect in her ex-husband's murder.

Zack Stone is content to be sheriff of Pine Cove, Tennessee, where the worst conflict he deals with is handing out speeding tickets. Though his faith is strong, he struggles with issues of forgiveness surrounding his wife's death. When he rescues Hope in a rainstorm, the last thing he expects is to find a woman who stirs his heart. Being a small town sheriff shouldn't involve kidnapping and murder, but Zack can't turn his back on Hope and the little boy she loves.

JoAnn's Thoughts:

Ms Erhardt pens a gripping story, which will impact the reader and grip their hearts as the characters come to life on the pages. Here's just a tiny sample of the depth of emotion and questioning the main character, Hope, deals with ... (Hope speaking here)"If God knows what our lives are going to be, then He must know when and how we're going to die. How can He let something so evil happen to a good person? Explain that to me."

This was more than just a story of a romance, it was a story of forgiveness, redemption, and faith. I loved every minute of it and I highly recommend you place this story on your TO BE READ list.

Hope has gotten free from a bad marriage, but leaving her stepson Joshua behind is breaking her heart. Her ex, a powerful and corrupt attorney, uses the little boy as a means of keeping Hope under his thumb. Other lawyers refuse to take her case.

Hope finds friendship in a small town, and a tentative love begins to bloom between her and the local sheriff. But when Joshua's life is threatened, Hope kidnaps her beloved stepson from his father's house. Soon the evil and violence surrounding Hope's ex-husband is directed at Hope and Joshua, putting their lives in danger.

This was a touching story that lingers with the reader long after reaching "The End." I worried about that poor little kid for the whole book! The love story between Hope and the sheriff was full of warmth, and the danger and suspense really kept me on the edge of my seat. Hope's struggle with her faith in God is well-integrated into the story, but it doesn't come off as "preachy" at all. Definitely worth reading.

Joshua's Hope was a very emotional Christian novel, a mixture of romance and suspense.
I loved the characters of Hope, Joshua and Zack and how The Lord worked in their lives.
The story kept my attention from beginning until end.

This is a clean Christian romance. It is a well written story that starts off grabbing your attention and never lets go. The story involves an abuse survivor trying to get custody of her step son. Her ex husband uses his son as a pawn to try to maintain control of her. The four year old witnesses a crime, placing his life In peril. I can tell you as a domestic and sexual violence victim's advocate that there are elements of truth in this work of fiction. Disturbingly deal. I cried at one point. The good news is that you are guaranteed a happy ending. The Christian thread is moderate, depicted in church attendance, prayer, struggling with why bad things happen to good people and in life choices. There is no preaching to the reader but there is no doubt that the characters are Christians. The scenes are clearly written without illogical gaffes and holes. It is well edited with very few errors. Characters are well drawn, you root for the protagonists and dislike the antagonists. This book can be read in an afternoon and is well worth the effort. I recommend this story.

This is a nice story. If you are looking for something that you can read that is straight forward with no surprises, no excess violence, and a touch of Jesus, this is for you. This is the grown up Disney-like version of life. It has a terrible husband, damsel in distress ex wife, captive little boy, bad man who hurts puppies, Prince Charming police chief and s happy ever after ending. This book is a nice way to pass the time without being too brain taxing. I must admit, up to the last page I secretly wondered if the Chief would be a secret henchman for the ex-husband. That is a sad statement on the signs of our times.

I really loved this story. Most of us have sadness within our lives. I know God is in control so all we have to do is have faith that His plan for us will come to fruition. We all need to keep our eyes on the Lord and to thank Him every day for all He does for us. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more of your books.

One of the most wonderful things about Joshua's Hope is that it doesn't fall back on the tired old -"he's my blood so I have to fight for him" stuff, but instead is the story of a good woman who dearly loves her stepson, and loves him so much that she is willing to risk everything, including her own life, to save him from his abusive father. That twist alone is worth reading, and the rest of the book lives up to the excitement of the premise.
Since there is no way she could hope to gain custody of a child that isn't biologically hers she must use her wits and courage to fight the biggest battle of her life. Because when her husband is murdered she finds that she must save not only the boy, but herself -- because she has become the prime suspect.
The writing in this book is so good, so full of life and faith and love that it captivates from page one. It's a perfect book to curl up with on your couch with the dog at your feet, the cat on your lap, a cup of tea on the side table and the knowledge that for the next few hours you will be transported into another world of adventure, self-sacrifice, love and faith. It boils down to one heck of a good read!
I couldn't recommend this book more highly!
