Review

Ms Erhardt has created this phenomenal story that ensnares the reader from the very first paragraph. I couldn't put the book down until the very last page. (5 angels, recommended read)

If you need a book to lift you up, this is the one to read. But make sure you have a lot of tissues handy for the tears of frustration and joy that are sure to flow as the story unfolds. 5 stars
--The Romance Studio, theromancestudio.com

If you are looking for a heartwarming and touching suspense, then I'd recommend this one. --longandshortreviews.blogspot.com

The reader will finish the book having learned about a person's loss of faith and the incredible journey to find it again while in the midst of a whirlwind of murder, suspense and lack of trust. --Simply Romance Reviews

The characters are so clearly drawn you immediately have a rapport with them and feel you could be friends, although there are a couple of characters I wouldn't want to meet on a dark night - or even in daylight, come to that. --Between the Lines

From the Author

This book came straight from my heart. As a stepmother of four children, I experienced Hope's pain as she struggled to gain custody of her stepson. Having experienced domestic abuse in my first marriage, just as Hope did, her experiences brought back memories, which although painful, are part of the healing process. Today I'm happily married to my soulmate. Our blended family of eight children has truly blessed me.

Product Description:
Hope Courtland escaped her marriage to save her life. Her only regret is leaving her four-year-old stepson, Joshua, behind. Though she wants custody, no attorney is willing to tackle her ex-husband in a custody battle. Hope's faith begins to falter. She learns that Joshua is paying the consequences for her freedom, and in an act of desperation, she kidnaps him. Suddenly, she becomes a suspect in her ex-husband's murder.

Zack Stone is content to be sheriff of Pine Cove, Tennessee, where the worst conflict he deals with is handing out speeding tickets. Though his faith is strong, he struggles with issues of forgiveness surrounding his wife's death. When he rescues Hope in a rainstorm, the last thing he expects is to find a woman who stirs his heart. Being a small town sheriff shouldn't involve kidnapping and murder, but Zack can't turn his back on Hope and the little boy she loves.

JoAnn's Thoughts:

Ms Erhardt pens a gripping story, which will impact the reader and grip their hearts as the characters come to life on the pages. Here's just a tiny sample of the depth of emotion and questioning the main character, Hope, deals with ... (Hope speaking here)"If God knows what our lives are going to be, then He must know when and how we're going to die. How can He let something so evil happen to a good person? Explain that to me."

This was more than just a story of a romance, it was a story of forgiveness, redemption, and faith. I loved every minute of it and I highly recommend you place this story on your TO BE READ list.

Hope has gotten free from a bad marriage, but leaving her stepson Joshua behind is breaking her heart. Her ex, a powerful and corrupt attorney, uses the little boy as a means of keeping Hope under his thumb. Other lawyers refuse to take her case.

Hope finds friendship in a small town, and a tentative love begins to bloom between her and the local sheriff. But when Joshua's life is threatened, Hope kidnaps her beloved stepson from his father's house. Soon the evil and violence surrounding Hope's ex-husband is directed at Hope and Joshua, putting their lives in danger.

This was a touching story that lingers with the reader long after reaching "The End." I worried about that poor little kid for the whole book! The love story between Hope and the sheriff was full of warmth, and the danger and suspense really kept me on the edge of my seat. Hope's struggle with her faith in God is well-integrated into the story, but it doesn't come off as "preachy" at all. Definitely worth reading.

One of the most wonderful things about Joshua's Hope is that it doesn't fall back on the tired old -"he's my blood so I have to fight for him" stuff, but instead is the story of a good woman who dearly loves her stepson, and loves him so much that she is willing to risk everything, including her own life, to save him from his abusive father. That twist alone is worth reading, and the rest of the book lives up to the excitement of the premise.
Since there is no way she could hope to gain custody of a child that isn't biologically hers she must use her wits and courage to fight the biggest battle of her life. Because when her husband is murdered she finds that she must save not only the boy, but herself -- because she has become the prime suspect.
The writing in this book is so good, so full of life and faith and love that it captivates from page one. It's a perfect book to curl up with on your couch with the dog at your feet, the cat on your lap, a cup of tea on the side table and the knowledge that for the next few hours you will be transported into another world of adventure, self-sacrifice, love and faith. It boils down to one heck of a good read!
I couldn't recommend this book more highly!

Joshua's Hope will grab you from page one and keep you hooked until the very end. Hope Courtland escapes the nightmare of her marriage but her problems have only just begun. Now she must fight to save her stepson from his abusive father. Since gaining custody is out of the question, she kidnaps the child to keep him safe. Now she's a suspect in her husband's murder and the only one she can turn to is Zack Stone,a small town sheriff haunted by his past. Zack has never had to deal with kidnapping and murder, but how can he turn his back on the woman he loves?

Carol Ann Erhardt writes with great warmth and compassion. We don't just feel Hope's anguish as she worries about her stepson, we live it. Joshua's Hope has just the right combination of mystery, romance, suspense and faith to please even the most discriminating reader. Just don't start this book at night or you'll lose sleep.

The only good thing in Hope Courtland's life is her step-son, 4 year-old Joshua. When her ex-husband blackmails her by only allowing supervised visits to the boy, Hope complies for love of the child. But then Joshua shares a horrifying secret and Hope realizes his father has placed him in danger. She kidnaps the boy to save his life.

Zack Stone moved back to the tiny town of Pine Grove to escape the memories of his wife, who died in a car accident. He doesn't expect his heart to re-open when he picks Hope up on the side of the road after her car breaks down. Prickly, curly-haired Hope, who used to throw tomatoes at him, is now a lovely young woman with with an air of distrust and refuses all his attempts at friendship. Yet something shows him her vulnerability and fear, and Zack decides he needs to dig beneath it to help the woman he is falling in love with.

In an emotional roller-coaster ride, Ms. Erhardt yanks the heartstrings and leaves the reader breathless, flipping pages to find out what happens. When Hope finally places her trust in God and Zack Stone, miracles start happening. Instead of being on the run, Hope and Joshua find happiness in a life filled with love, redemption and a puppy named Happy.
