I have always been in love with the art of storytelling, and have written poems and short stories since childhood. My very first piece was in my local newspaper and it was titled, Santa Claus. I enjoy blogging and from time to time, I pen out free stories for my blogs, Imagination Alley and Lisa's place. I also enjoy conducting interviews with my fellow authors on these sites as well. I have had one poem published with eFiction magazine in September, 2011. I currently have three romance novels published with Deadly Reads. I have one screenplay in edit, and am currently working on its novel version. In addition, I am in preparation of releasing my first horror/sci-fi story. I enjoy interacting with my readers, and fellow authors, so please, feel free to find me at the popular social sites, and say 'hi'.
Josephine seems to have her life together while living in New York and then family tragedy forces her to come back to her family ranch in Utah. While there she has to confront her past which includes her once teenage love Jacob. As she is dealing with the loss of her parents and her brother's accident she realizes she has to work with Jacob to save the ranch and possibly their lives.
At times Jacob came across as your typical alpha male and a bit of a jerk but he more than makes up for it. I like the fact that Josephine is a strong woman and the sexual tension between her and Jacob was off the charts. I was impressed at the way Lisa made the secondary characters, Esther and Calvin as well as the sweet dog Bo an intricate part of the plot line.
This is the first book of Lisa's that I had the pleasure of reading and I can't wait to read more. Perhaps Josie's brother Jackson may get his own story. If you love romance, suspense and mystery, I recommend this book you won't be disappointed.
This book contains everything you could hope for a in good story. It has mystery, action, a little humor and a lot of lovin'. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know both Josephina and Jacob and watching them try to find their way back to each other.
There is the mystery of why Josephina left her home and family so suddenly, as well as the mystery of all the incidents that are suddenly plaguing the family ranch and her brother's recent accident. Jacob, himself, is a mystery; and she thought she knew him so well. Josephina is a tough cookie, but even she has some misgivings about keeping the family homestead.
Jacob is very intriguing, dark, and delicious, and Josie tries her hardest to ignore him. She is unsuccessful in that endeavor, thank goodness! Jacob keeps his true purpose for returning to the McCrea ranch to himself but he is determined to save the ranch for his best friend and Josephina's brother. When he and Josie do get together the pages ignite with their passion.
I truly enjoyed this book with all of its twists and turns. It brought out all the emotions you would expect and I love when a book does that to me. I look forward to reading more of Lisa's work.
Without being overly romantic, Josie's Thorn has the right blend of romance and realism. Not only did I like the novel but I found the characters to be real as well. I liked them. A very enjoyable read. A great book to curl up with by the fire.
Synopsis: Josie's Thorn is a wild ride of novel about a young woman named Josephina who is forced under sad circumstances to return to the place she escaped, her family's ranch in Utah. While sorting out the messy business of running the ranch, Josephina must deal with Jacob, the boy she left behind. Only now he is a man, and she can't hide from the truth - as much as she hates it, she still loves him. But what about the ranch? Someone is sabotaging it and there are multiple people with motive. Luckily, Josephina has Jacob to help her put a stop to it and save the ranch in a dramatic conclusion. Josie's thorn will pain her no more. Review: This was a fast read. The characters spring to life early in the book, and the tension ratchets up quickly, building between them. The secondary characters of Esther and Charlie were just as real as the main characters. The author does a great job of using the environment of the ranch and its problems to push the main characters Josephina and Jacob to their breaking point. And the sexual tension was terrific. These complex layers of tension propel both the plot and the romance forward with surprise twists and turns. A very sweet story. I enjoyed reading this book.
After her brother is injured in a hiking accident, Josie returns to the home that she was forced to leave several years earlier. While she tries to understand the strange events that are driving the family ranch to financial ruin, she must also come to grips with her feelings for the handsome, and sexy, Jacob who was her first love.
Lisa Vandiver has a gift for weaving a tale of love and adventure into one completely delightful read!
If you enjoy a story full of exciting twists and turns, and HOT, STEAMY sexual tension then Josie's Thorn is for you.
Well developed characters that reveal more depth with every page. Shows how people can loose years of happiness because of making decisions without learning the truth first. Looks and thoughts can be deceiving... ALWAYS seek truths before making decisions.
