The 13-track debute album from a French TV talent contest winner reveals impeccable arrangements, utter polish of styling, great technical teamwork and virtually top grade new R'n'B. All of which rank medium (not mediocre) for this position withn the hierarchy of pop. All lyrics are in French while tunes persue a typical US-rooted cosmo-flaved urban hip-hop pattern, with exception of closing piano+vocal number attempting a Carole King type of ballad. An admirer of newer Destiny's Child girlie trend will like this one immensely whereas a traditionalist may throw up if long subjected to the sound. Artfully studio-produced and quality recorded by experienced BMG engineers but washed of passion.

This CD was a delight! Amel's voice is gorgeous and strong, and her styling rings true. I encourage anyone who enjoys R & B, blues, or jazz to check her out. I can't wait for her next effort.

Un Jour D'Ete will last a lot longer than one day in the summer.,

I first started searching for French music when I was learning French, when I stumbled upon Amel's hit "Ma Philosophie". After listening to that song about a thousand times, I came to the conclusion to buy the album. Un Jour D'Ete won't lose your attention, and it instantly captivates you with Je Suis. This album is a must have for most people, regardless of your knowledge of the French language.

I first discovered this gem when my wife and I honeymooned in Paris and stumbled onto her videos. I normally don't stop down to pay attention to a song but when "Ne Retiens Pas Tes Larmes" came on I was hooked. She is gorgeous, extremely talented and the production quality for R&B is second to none. I bought this when I returned to the states and I listen to if often. For something out of the ordinary but with quality, I suggest you get this.
