Beatrix Potter (1866-1943)was a writer and illustrator. The Lake District where she lived for the last thirty years of her life as a farmer and conservationist was a particular source of her inspiration, and her passion for the natural world lay behind the creation of her famous little books.

[[ASIN:0723236259 The Journal of Beatrix Potter: 1881 to 1897] I had put another book on my Wish List, which purported to be a journal by Beatrix Potter, but upon reading the description more carefully, I realized today that it is a fabricated journal, based on what is known about her life, and is NOT written by her. THIS particular book is one I read years ago and is her real journal. Since I played with codes as a child, I enjoyed learning that the journal was encoded and her code was not broken until 1958. As I recall, the journal goes into her feelings about being treated as a child by her father, when she was an adult, and also her brief romance with her publisher, as well as how she finally broke free from her paremts' grasp and purchased a farm in the countryside. I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to purchase a copy of my own at some point (the one I read was a library book). I read it as a young adult and it believe would be suitable for the YA crowd, yet still interesting to an adult.
