I loved this book. It was thought provoking. It gave you ideas of how to actually journal growing intimacy and also how to develop intimacy. I felt it gave such good food for thought that it would help you find out if you were on the right track in your relationship.

Rose Offner's offering tands out in the group of journals for couples I briefly perused. First of all because it is beautiful, and richly illustrated. However, I own this one because it goes past the surface what's your favorite date experience together, when did you first kiss, etc...This triggers sharing-in a thoughtful/fun/creative way- about what couples really need to understand about one another but often don't. Plus, this book offers a gentle segway into difficult topics such as fear. Recognizing a partner's fear often comes up in a tense situation, not a good time to offer validation. Here couples can cover it in a comforting context of sharing. This can be as valuable for the couple as dinner together is for the family.

A full range of topics-thoughtfully phrased- for couples is covered. The topics travel from individual histories, present conditions, future hopes, even the couple's context and desires for the community at large. Categories: Intro to how to take advantage of the journal, how to start writing when you are not used to doing that; Self-Inquiry; From Anger and Hurt to Forgiveness; Communication; The Art of Loving; Intimacy and Passion; Growth and Change; the Couple's Journey to Fulfillment.

Guided intro examples: Tell the story of how you met your partner. Begin with "once upon a time," or "long, long ago." Write about why you were attracted to each other. Express how you have fulfilled each other's longing, needs, and desires. Describe the obstacles you overcame. Create a happy ending for your future together...Our Fears-known and unknown, real and imagined-inhibit intimacy. Naming our fears often diminishes their power over us. Create a list of your fears and share them. Explore how they prevent closeness...Acts of Courage strengthen your will and assist you in developing a brave heart. Taking action moves you through your fears and helps you gain personal power. List the actions you would be willing to take to break through your fears...
