Editorial Reviews

Review

"A stunning tale! Is it true? As true, I think, as the Book of Job. This is a literary work that stirs us. R.T. Stone is a latter-day evangelist, writing his own addendum to the Bible. It should, accordingly, afflict the comfortable." - (Robert Blair Kaiser, Award-winning correspondent for Time Magazine during Vatican II.)

"There's plenty of intrigue, wry humor, and soul-blessed romance as the various threads of Stone's parallel worlds finally come together after the trip of a lifetime-or several of them. In the spirit of David Wallace's Infinite Jest, this book stands out from the crowd" - (Matthew Gilbert, Review Editor, NAPRA Review)

"I was surprised at the power of The Journals to draw me in. Call it synchronicity or coincidence, but I discovered myself within the pages of this book-both my life circumstances and my philosophy, mirrored for me to reflect upon. I find myself asking many questions, such as why was this put in my path? How many other people will find their lives woven into the mysterious tapestries of The Journals?" - (Gary Eisler, Author and contributor to the Wall Street Journal, Forbes Magazine and The New York Times)

"A brilliant, mystical story hovering just above our sense of reality. This book challenges beliefs on every page, but rewards with light that buttresses faith. The Journals is fiction with a purpose-the healing of our fragile world." - (Rabbi Abie Ingber, Executive Director, Hillel Jewish Student Center, Cincinnati, OH)

"With a mix of whimsy and wisdom, The Journals takes you down a path leading deeper and deeper into areas of spirituality. Stone combines philosophy with soft-core mystery to create a new genre of literature: visionary fiction." - (Amy Firis, Literary Editor, City Beat)

"Stone creates engaging characters, a compelling story, mystery, New Age mysticism, and social consciousness and vigorously rattles them around between the pages of his new book, The Journals. After the pieces settle and the dust clears, we are left thoroughly entertained and quite unexpectedly filled with hope for the future." - "Stone paints the narrative masterfully. The struggles, personal discoveries and epiphanies of the people in this book mirror the battle of good and evil waged within us all. Each character is vividly portrayed within this captivating and layered story. I've found myself profoundly impacted by the entwined stories in The Journals and I look forward to a continued reflective journey in Book II." - -- Wes Gilbert, Reviewer, Dream Weaver Magazine

5.0 out of 5 stars Offers a very powerful spiritual message, November 10, 1998

The Journals is very enlightening. You will find yourself reflecting on every aspect of your life with every character. And the book will make you analyze your level of participation in helping people as well as mother nature. Suprisingly, it will even stir up your emotions enough to make you do something crazy...like plant a tree or volunteer at a soup kitchen. I highly recommend The Journals to all.

5.0 out of 5 stars A1 - What a GREAT READ !!! - THE JOURNALS, by RT Stone, July 20, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Journals: A Message from the Council of Ancients (Hardcover)
I've just finished the most amazing book. What a find! It's called The Journals--A Message from the Council of Ancients, by R.T. Stone. I saw a review on The Midwest Book Review web site that said, "The Journals is one of those ground-breaking novels of social consciousness that occur once or twice in every generation, and will have an impact well into the next century." I believe it!

The story line is so strong that it just pulled me in--and it would not let go. Not many books have that power. It's also a unique blend of fact and fiction that kept me wondering, is some of this true?

If you liked the Celestine Prophecy, then I think you'll love The Journals. It's extremely well written. I laughed, I cried, and I learned something about myself along the way. It's also Book One of a trilogy. I loved the characters so much in Book One, that I can't! wait for the next two books. This book is definitely a sleeper. Read it now before everyone else does, so that you can say you read it when...

This is one of those books that has so much going on in the story, it makes it hard to decide where to start describing it first. It's like Twin Peaks in book form. David Lynch would love this book. It reads like a movie. Chris Carter would also like it I'm sure. Regardless, I don't think you'll be dissapointed. Spiritual seekers, feminists, conspiracy theorists, sci-fi, sex and empowerment--you name it, The Journals has it! And it's all wrapped up in a very engaging and entertaining story that won't put you to sleep. It's a page turner.

Another one of the best ways to describe the book, and how it hooked me in, is to write the text that appears on the inner sleeve. I think it says it all. It is as follows: Do you believe in destiny? A higher power? R.T. Stone didn't. Stone had lived the American Dream as an obscure self-! made millionaire. Then one mysterious night all that change! d, forever.

In the space of a few short moments R.T. Stone discovered a book (the very one you hold in your hands), watched his nightclub burn to the ground, was framed for attempted murder and arson, lost his life's fortune, and had his entire world shattered. It could be the best day of his life.

All this mayhem was caused by a celestial entity calling itself the Council of Ancients. Some call it God. Others fate. They have a message for R.T. Stone and the rest of humankind. They strongly suggest you listen.

Welcome to your destiny.

3.0 out of 5 stars Simple enjoyment, November 1, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Journals: A Message from the Council of Ancients (Hardcover)
The Journals is a good book for beginners. It is very easy reading, lighter and easier to understand than most of the spiritual books. Entertaining for a change. Not mucked down by the weightiness of this subject. I enjoyed it in a simplistic sort of way. There isn't deep insight as one would suspect by the title, however, I look forward to Part II to rest my heart and soul.
