Entertaining and Edifying-What More Could You Want!,
This review is from: The Journey (The Adventures of Jecosan Tarres, Book 1) (Paperback)
Why would you want to read "The Adventures of Jecosan Tarres" yourself? Because it is full of happy times, suspense, noble sacrifice, heart-thrilling beauty, dramatic rescues, bad guys that get their just deserts, and good guys sticking to their principles against all costs-which brings to them a satisfying reward. Reading this thoroughly enjoyable story will change you, if you let it. It illustrates the basic principles of integrity, honesty, loyalty, and reaping what you sow. After finishing Book #2, I found myself comparing different aspects of the plot to my own life. By experiencing the story I was encouraged to improve myself and my own disciplines. I usually don't read a book again until several years have passed, but within a week after finishing the first two, I gathered my kids together and we have started at the beginning, reading "The Adventures" aloud and discussing its analogies.
All three books will need to be purchased to finish the story, so be prepared for the agony of an unfinished high-point if in your eagerness to dive into this pleasurable tale you begin reading without the final edition in your possession.

The Adventures of Jecosan Tarres,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Journey (The Adventures of Jecosan Tarres, Book 1) (Paperback)
Jecosan, a young blacksmith's apprentice, lives a quiet and peaceful life in his home village of Chegmer. His days are filled with work and wandering in the forest, looking for mushrooms and berries. Yet when something unusual begins to happen, Jecosan is prepared: he knows that everyone has a calling, and the time has come for him to receive his. Thus begins the story of Jecosan, and it will keep you turning the pages. The boy's faithful heart and firm determination to do what is commissioned to him is admirable. He seems to be going through one trial after another - and he is not made of stone, he does get hurt and does cry - but he won't give up. Other characters are also very enjoyable. Each one has a story, and touches you in his own way. One of my favorites is Lord Agassar, a noble old man who finds enough strength of character to do what is right and help Jecosan despite his own personal loss. I highly recommend this book.

Cute Christian Children's Fantasy,
By Rachel (Houghton, MI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Journey (The Adventures of Jecosan Tarres, Book 1) (Paperback)
The Journey is a sweet little children's fantasy for Christian readers. It begins the journey of Jecosan Tarres, an orphan boy who has managed to conserve a deep faith in God despite a life of adversity. Jeco gets a message from God telling him to take a dangerous journey to the king's palace--a quest that his friend and caretaker Dalian does not approve of, but accepts because of Jeco's stubbornness. Although Lond's writing style in The Journey is not as mature as it is in her more recent (and adorable) book My Sparkling Misfortune, she has created two loveable human characters and one very lovable canine character. I am eager to see how these characters develop in the next two books and to see where Jeco's mission will lead.

Incredibly enjoyable!,

This review is from: The Journey (The Adventures of Jecosan Tarres, Book 1) (Paperback)
After finishing "The Journey", I was left asking one question: "When's the next one coming out?" Laura's writing is clear and concise, and her characters are three-dimensional and not the cookie-cutter type that fill other novels. You'll find yourself genuinely caring for these people, and hoping they live to the next book. This novel is full of adventure, and adults will enjoy it as much as the kids do.

True Hero,
By Kathy Robbert (Guatemala) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Journey (The Adventures of Jecosan Tarres, Book 1) (Paperback)
Here's what I appreciate: Young Jecosan Tarres is a gentleman. He's not afraid of hard work, does with integrity the jobs no one else wants, is careful with money, and is full of dignity as he pursues the path of Truth. There's no let down in this hero's character, and the reader can have confidence that, despite obstacles, hardships, and pain, Good will win out in the end. There's wisdom in the book that avid readers won't want to miss.

Great Family Reading,

This review is from: The Journey (The Adventures of Jecosan Tarres, Book 1) (Paperback)
I read this book aloud to my children and they absolutely loved it. The only problem I had is that we read a little each night before bed and they always wanted me to read more! It is a very interesting and imaginitive book with lots of moral values built into it. I would recommend it highly to anyone. It was fascinating for the kids and yet it has plenty of underlying meaning to keep an adult interested as well. I can't wait for the next book in the series to be published!!

Heartwarming story with great characters,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Journey (The Adventures of Jecosan Tarres) (Kindle Edition)
Author Laura Lond's book The Journey is a sweet story that centers in the beginning around a boy (Jeco) and his dog (Gart). I like to see pets incorporated into stories when it's done right, and in this case, it is. As a reader you get a read sense of what the dog means to the boy, and that is heartwarming.
One of the other things she does well with this book is when she describes the settings and the surroundings. In her author profile I read that she has a BA of Arts degree in history, and I would suspect this was beneficial to her as she wrote the different scenes. Once of my favorite lines in the story is: "Jeco lifted his head and saw that he was lying in the soft grass of a forest clearing, under a nutwood bush, its leaves beautifully lit with sunbeams." The book is filled with these types of passages, and I found it to be both charming and heartwarming. -Cheryl Bradshaw, Author of Black Diamond Death
