Great book for all ages,
By Kris Robinson (Oregon) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Journey Beyond the Beyond (Magic Lands, Book 1) (Magic Lands S.) (Paperback)
Journey Beyond the Beyond is a great book for children all around to read and to enjoy. It is a great book for older and teenagers to read too. It is about a boy who has to journey alone into the wild, and his adventures on the way to the place lost and deep.

Such a FUN read!!,
This review is from: Journey Beyond the Beyond (Magic Lands, Book 1) (Magic Lands S.) (Paperback)
This is the first Robert Stanek book I read. Even though several years have passed since then I still remember the characters and pick up the book from time to time to re-read it. Anyone who liked Shrek the movie or books with creepy critters in them is going to love this. I totally enjoyed it and recommend it.

Magic Lands,
By K. Palmera "UW" (Longview, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Journey Beyond the Beyond (Magic Lands, Book 1) (Magic Lands S.) (Paperback)
The greatest thing about Magic Lands is the suspense element. Mr. Stanek throws a hook into each chapter that carries the reader along to the next chapter whether he wants to go along or not. The descriptions of the places and characters are outstanding, and I loved it when Ray got to the end of his journey. My favorite characters in this book were Ray and Old Bull.

Abstract and Inventive,
By Nathan Freeman (Palm Springs, Florida USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Journey Beyond the Beyond (Magic Lands, Book 1) (Magic Lands S.) (Paperback)
This coming of age tale is a masterful abstract novel. The details are great, and describe the things in a way that really lets your imagination take over and place the images in your mind. The story is great and is marvellously inventive. There are some heartwarming moments, some fearful moments, some moments of pure enjoyment, and its always fun. This is a great young adult novel for all genders.

I LOVE CREEPY, CRAWLY THINGS ...,
By Betty L. Dravis "BETTY DRAVIS, author/reviewer" (Silicon Valley, CA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Journey Beyond the Beyond (Magic Lands, Book 1) (Magic Lands S.) (Paperback)
The publisher said this book is sure to delight ... and s/he did not exaggerate! I reveled in this book from start to finish, and am now going back to read as many of his other books as I can. I know I won't be able to read them all ... and get any of my own writing done, but I'll read at least one in each series, to see what all the shouting's about.
Robert Stanek, the author, certainly knows how to plant vivid mind images of his creepy, crawly things ... and I loooooove it. His mastery of suspense, outright horror, and of the English language is amazing. Thanks, Mr. Stanek, for one of the best reads I've had in a long while ... and I'm an avid reader, devouring books as though they were chocolate cake. I hope you visit my website as you do some of your other fans.

The book was exciting, funny, and adventurouss. The explanation and the timing made you want to read more and more and I loved it as much as my kids. This book was so believable we want to read all the books. I recommend this book to all ages. I would ask all parents to read it with their child because the book gave my daughters and I something to talk about and laugh at.

This is such a fun read. My kids were hooting and hollering from the start! Magic Lands is the story of a boy who leaves his village to prove himself. The critters and creatures in the book had me laughing and enjoying it too. Highly recommended.

A Review from Abby's mom,
By A Customer
This review is from: Journey Beyond the Beyond (Magic Lands, Book 1) (Magic Lands S.) (Paperback)
Magic Lands Journey Beyond the Beyond is a fantasy of the order of such great authors as J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter), C.S. Lewis (Chronicles of Narnia), and Madeleine L'Engle (Wrinkle in Time). Simply put, this book is a masterpiece of children's fantasy and a true classic. This book introduces us to Ray, who lives in a small village in the wilderness. His life changes when he has to prove he is of age and leave his home village. His journey starts out with him eyes filled with dreams leaving and he gets a rude awakening very quickly when a wild beast sets on him and nearly devours him. This starts off a seris of magnificent chases and wild adventures with Ray and the beast as his nemisary. Robert Stanek has masterfully rendered a captivating page-turner. This book includes everything one could wish in a fantasy: very interesting characters, strong tension between good and evil, lots of adventure/mystery, dramatic twists-and-turns, and a bit of magic. This book is a must read for kids and adults alike. It's imaginative, well envisioned, and a great read.

Looking for something fun to read to your child? Here it is!,

My husband and I bought this book as a Christmas present for our 7 year old son. The night after Christmas, my husband started reading it to our son. In the five months since then, my husband and I have read this book all the way through four times! My son lays entranced in his bed each and every time with his eyes going wide as Ray confronts Old Bull, holding his breath while Ray clashes with Mother Slither as if we hadn't read this very book 3 times previously. Even more remarkable, my husband and I enjoyed it just as much - and admit to reading ahead in the book after sending our son to bed. This is an excellent book to begin sharing the wonder of reading with your children. You will enjoy reading the story as much as they will enjoy hearing it!

Finish reading the book before you review it!,
By J. Daniels (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Journey Beyond the Beyond (Magic Lands, Book 1) (Magic Lands S.) (Paperback)
I was really irritated to read bad reviews of this book to find that most of those people didn't even finish it! I'm sorry, but your review shouldn't even be considered (or written for that matter) if you stopped reading part way through - how can you possibly give a complete and accurate review? Granted, if you had an imagination (even a tiny one), you'd understand the author's intention, and it makes it all worthwhile. This book is fascinating and is the ultimate practice in suspending belief and judgement. It's a journey of the heart and mind. It also shines a light on what a human being can endure, and what means they use, both physically and mentally, to endure it. Almost every society in the world has rights of passage, and this is the story of Ray's right of passage. An incredible read, don't miss out!
