This review is from: Journey to the Cross: The Complete Easter Story for Young Readers (Hardcover)
This story of Christ is lovingly told using words carefully chosen to reach the heart of a child. The journey's beautiful illustrations captivate the reading audiance while complimenting the thoughtful text. Additional explanations are given to highlight Bible times, and to further relate them to current life. This book makes a wonderful additon to the library of any 8 - 12 year old.

Wonderful Telling of the Passion Week,
By
This review is from: Journey to the Cross: The Complete Easter Story for Young Readers (Hardcover)
Helen Haidle along with her husband, David, and son, Paul, have put together a marvelous volume to introduce and fascinate your child with the last week of Jesus' life as He moved toward the cross and His resurrection. Each chapter is only 2-3 pages of text and is fully illustrated. Each chapter also includes additional material directly related to the chapter. This additional information goes into greater detail to explain background information. The 3-4 questions included with each chapter draw the child into the story with at least one to get them thinking about the truth. I have been going through this book with my eight-year-old daughter, and she is fascinated by the story. It has become her favorite devotional.

Great for Devotions leading up to Easter,

I homeschool my sons and have been using this book as a daily lesson leading up to Easter. My 7 year old has thoroughly enjoyed it, and it's been touching his heart. In fact, I believe it has eloquently and simply explained Christ's sacrifice in a way that is very real to a young child.
Each lesson ends with 3 thought-provoking questions. I've seen my son's heart stirred by these questions, and even a few tears shed out of gratefulness for Jesus' sacrifice as well as sadness for his suffering.

Excellent for family devotions through Lent,
This review is from: Journey to the Cross: The Complete Easter Story for Young Readers (Hardcover)
My family loves this book. We have read it every lent (the month before Easter) for the last 4 years. The children love to snuggle on the couch and discuss the lessons every evening. The questions are thought provoking and a wonderful tool to use with your children to explain what Christ has truly done for us. The historical sections are also a great way to further understand scripture and make it come alive. I thank the authors for such a wonderful gift to my family. I just wish there was one for the advent season!

I am a Christian elementary school teacher. I used this book for my daily Easter devotions. The details went far beyond the "usual" Easter stories. They were factual,in depth and challenging spiritually. My class begged me to read more each day. My rating was a little lower because the price was a little higher than I expected. I recommend this book for anyone who wants their child to truly understand Christ's Journey to the Cross.
