4.0 out of 5 stars I loved it!
I've never read any of Bonnie Leon's books before this, and I wasn't disappointed. I thought for sure it was going to be a "survival story" like I read in school, you know, unbearably dull. I was pleasantly surprised!

4.0 out of 5 stars I loved it!, June 13, 2000
This review is from: The Journey of Eleven Moons (Northern Lights Series, Book 1) (Paperback)
I've never read any of Bonnie Leon's books before this, and I wasn't disappointed. I thought for sure it was going to be a "survival story" like I read in school, you know, unbearably dull. I was pleasantly surprised!

Anna, a young Aleutian girl, watches in horror as everything and everyone dear to her is swept away in a terrible natural disaster. Only she and her small sister Iya are left, and they must struggle on alone. A white-skinned, blue-eyed outsider seems to want to help, but Anna mistrusts Erik and his God. He is her only hope, though, and so the two Alaskan girls and the Norwegian form an unlikely bond. They face a long winter, hungry grizzlies, starvation, and rejection. Erik seems to believe in the white man's God, the God that crushed Anna's hopes and dreams. Can she accept Erik and his God, or will she be alone forever?

Again, it was great. I highly recommend it. Like the person below said, it's one of those books where you think you're going to read just one mroe chapter, just one more chapter, then you'll go to sleep...until you're finished with the book! I stayed up past midnight reading it. Bonnie Leon is excellent!

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational, soul feeding and a must read, September 30, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Journey of Eleven Moons (Northern Lights Series, Book 1) (Paperback)
This book is set in the early 18th century along the Alaskan coast. Here, a girl and her brother are alone in the world with minimal survival skills but a storng will to survive. Without even a God they trust to turn to, they feel lost in the large barren world that they reside in. They were living each day as it passed until they met Erick, a 'white-man' who wanted to help them. At first they were a little apprehensive about Ercik as She believed that the 'white-man's' God brought the destruction upon her family. But soon, she learnt to trust him and the cemented a firm friendship between the two. This story is warm and it makes you grateful for what you have. Not only that, it is what some people may call "soul food" and is a good reading book for long winter evenings. It also shows us the awesome power of God and the fact that faith can work wonders.

This review is from: The Journey of Eleven Moons (Northern Lights Series, Book 1) (Paperback)
Excellent book. Counldn't wait for the next book to arrive. I have read almost all of Bonnie Leon's books and just love them. She keeps the reader interested and makes it hard for the reader to go to sleep because "just one more chapter and I'll turn out the light" turns out to be I'll just finish the book and THEN sleep. Thanks Bonnie for your great Northern Lights Series. .......

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous!!!, October 16, 2006
This review is from: The Journey of Eleven Moons (Northern Lights Series, Book 1) (Paperback)
This book was recomended to me, and I was instantly hooked just from looking at the cover! I read the first chapter, and it had me in tears. I kept reading, and I couldn't put the book down! I actually read on the weekend---on my own free will! (That doesn't happen much, but now it does) This was my very 1st Christian book, and it's very inspiring.
I advise any Christian to take a crack at this book filled with adventure, romance, tradgety, humor... you name it! It's a good clean, Christian romance for all ages.
If you're a bit shaky on reading it, don't worry. Just go ahead, read it. Trust me, I loved it!!! I know you will too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Warm, heart-touching story, June 12, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Journey of Eleven Moons (Northern Lights Series, Book 1) (Paperback)
Bonnie Leon captivates the struggles in Alaska, as she shows you--mind you, I said 'shows' not 'tells'-- how Alaskin life really is. This was her very first novel, and it's absouletly marvelous.

Anna, 16 year old Native Aluet, watches in horror as her old ways, village, and family are washed away by an unmerciful tsunami. Erik Engstrom, a tall Norwegian man, feels it is God's will to help Anna and her younger sister, Iya.

The book is filled with adventure and romance. It's a one-more-chaper-till-bed books; it's a page turner. I highly recommend any Christian reader to enhance yourself in this great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intro to Bonnie Leon, October 19, 2009
This review is from: The Journey of Eleven Moons (Northern Lights Series, Book 1) (Paperback)
This was the first Bonnie Leon book that I ever read and it got me hooked on her. I read this the first time before the sequels were written and it was sweet torture waiting for the rest. Since I have read many of her series and I am never disappointed.
