prison memoir set in Communist Romania, July 11, 1999
This review is from: Journey to Freedom (Hardcover)
The author relates his life in Communist Romania in the late 1940s & 1950s, his time in prison (for attempting to escape), his eventual life in the West, and his return visit in the 1980s. Some of these true incidents are gruesome, yet they inspire gratitude for living in the US. The author's eyewitness recounting of Ceausescu's visit to Canada in the 1980s is hilarious, in a black comedy sort of way.

Eye-opening, September 29, 2009
This review is from: Journey to Freedom (Hardcover)
This book is exceptionally well-written and should be a real "eye-opener" for Americans! I was a friend of the author at the time the book was published, and it was heartbreakening to read about some of his experiences! I am not sure how many Americans are gratefull for the freedoms that we have! Nicholas Dima is a fine, intellegent, and socially compassionate man--I highly recommend the reading of his book!
