Dr. Carolyn Mazloomi's Journey of Hope in America: Quilts Inspired by Barack Obama is truly a work of art in itself. The quilt selections, the layout, the overall sense of this book is truly inspirational. I am honored to have an art quilt in this collection, but when the book came today--I had no idea of how eloquent the book would be. This is a tribute to Dr. Mazloomi, President Barack Obama and to hope itself.

I had been to see the Quilt exhibit in Wilberforce, Ohio that showed the many quilts that were designed by people who were inspired by the first black president to be elected in the U.S. As a quilter of many years and was also inspired by the election of a black man to be president I was inspired by the quality of the thoughts and work that was involved in this book which documented the beauty and inspiration that went into the design and implimentation of these wonderful quilts. The book was very well designed and the coments by the people who made these quilts were joyful, unbelieving, and pure love came through the whole book.
This book is a must read for any quilter and anyone who was encouraged by the election of Barack Obama.

To Dr.Carolyn Mazloomi and all the quilt artist who've contribute to this
awsome piece of history. I couldn't be more proud. This book will be past
down generations to come. The Journey Of Hope in America will inspire furture generation of quilters. I will use my book as a teaching tool.

The creativity of these quilters/fabric artists is remarkable!!! This book will become, a quilter's collectible. This book , I'm sure will be found in the Smithsonian with all other memorable artefacts of our 44th President and the First Family. Carolyn L. Mazloomi books are always admirable. Wish I could've been a part of this tribute but I'm proud to say I own Vlisco's African Wax Block Print fabric titled,Obama, to make a quilt.

I ordered two copies of "Journey of Hope: Quilts Inspired by President Barack Obama." I had the opportunity to travel to Wilberforce, Ohio and meet many of the artists that were part of this project. It was beautiful talking with quilters and hearing what inspired them. The pictures are fantastic! This is one book quilters and non-quilters would LOVE to have!

The book is a beautiful depiction of events and key players in the civil rights movement interwoven with the election of President Barack Obama. I love the variety of quilts depicted in the book and feel it is an excellent addition to anyone's coffee table or book collection. I highly recommend the book for anyone who would appreciate the artistic elements. I also love the uniqueness of presenting the major events in a visual manner with so many different views from the artists included in the book. This is a book for all people of all ages.

This book is absolutely inspiring as both a quilting book and as a historical record of a monumentally important event in American history and culture. Many quilt books are just lovely pictures, but this one is well written and provides hours of interesting and informative reading. The quilts themselves are art quilts, so there are no patterns or instructions, as is standard for an art quilt book. The quality of the quilts and the art varies, but the enthusiasm and emotion expressed is undeniable and enriching. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

These quilts and their stories warm my heart and give me hope for the future of our country and our relationships with one other. It's a book that I read over and over. We must continue on this road to racial equality and justice that has been such a long time coming.
