Journey,

This review is from: Journey (Audio CD)
Imatem is a side project of Project Pitchman's frontman Peter Spilles. JOURNEY is the second release that Peter has put out as Imatem in less than a year. After hearing a couple of samples from JOURNEY on Imatem's Myspace page, I knew I had to get JOURNEY. I recently received my copy of JOURNEY and have been listening to it constantly. I have to admit the songs took me a few listens to really sink into my head.
All of the music is composed by Peter Spilles. The lyrics and vocals are provided by an array of artists, some I recognize (Ronan Harris and Sara Noxx) and some new ( Sven Friedrich, Jinxy, Stefan Grossman). There is one instrumental which is the title track of the album. I have to admit I am not a huge fan of Peter's other band Project Pitchfork but I really have come to love his work on Imatem. The music is not as harsh as PP. Imatem's music definitely has a distinct synthpop sound. My favorite tracks is easily the ones featuring VNV Nation's Ronan Harris, Sara Noxx, and Jinxy. I had to listen to JOURNEY a few times for certain songs like "Fiat Lux" and "The Influence" to really sink into my head. My only beef with the cd is that it was not cheap. I could not find a cheaper copy on the internet for the life of me. If you can afford $36 for a cd, I think JOURNEY is worth checking out.
