Kane deserves better..., September 28, 2005
This review is from: Journey Into Darkness: The Unauthorized History of Kane (Wwe) (Mass Market Paperback)
I am a huge Undertaker/Kane fan. So when I heard about this book I was very excited to get my hands on it. Even with negative reviews, I still wanted to read it because I was curious to see how this writer will shape the story.
I've read it and I am very very disappointed. Kane is such a dark, mysterious and intense character with the most interesting past... this book totally destroyed that credibility. A Curse? What was the writer thinking? I know this is a fictional story, but putting the curse in makes the whole story less realistic and more childish. It's easy to blame everything on a curse, that is taking the easy way out. It seems like the writer was trying to come up with a "scary" past for Kane, but there was nothing dark and "scary" about this story. The writer tried too hard to force a dark tale, (like the whole thing with the Burrows family. That didn't provoke any emotions at all) and turned this story into a factual textbook read instead of a fiction. I agree with some of the reviews here, he tries too hard to fill in the holes in Kane's lives and it turns out to be terrible. Don't even get me started on the Katie Vick angle...
I suspect also that all the positive reviews here are written by WWE staff (after seeing all the negative reviews, they decide to counterattack). Only a WWE staff member would say this book was well-written, when in fact it was boring. But if they have another writer willing to take another shot at Kane's story, I'll support it.

A History of Kane the Character not the man, January 12, 2006
This review is from: Journey Into Darkness: The Unauthorized History of Kane (Wwe) (Mass Market Paperback)
First off people should read this book knowing it's not a biography of Glen Jacobs it's a fictional biography of Kane the character. With that put aside this was a pretty good book, I wish the wrestling aspect didn't have to be in it, but then why write the book. Aside from that the book was great, characters, plots, everything fit. This is a must for any wrestling fan. I would however like to see a review from a non wrestling fan to get their aspect from it.

Interesting backstory, September 11, 2005
This review is from: Journey Into Darkness: The Unauthorized History of Kane (Wwe) (Mass Market Paperback)
Journey Into Darkness: The Unauthorized History of Kane takes a look into one of the most interesting storylines in WWE history. From the fire that tragically killed his parents and brother, to his life in foster care, and his relationship with Katie Vick. Then, after getting a temporary job, Kane happens to see someone from his past on TV, and that eventually leads him into the WWE and seeing revenge on his brother.
This is a great book for anyone who wants to read the fictional back story on Kane, or even the Undertaker. Anyone who is a fan of Taker and wants to learn about some of his fictional history, this is a good read for them too.
Obviously, this book is fiction, so only those who are interested in the storyline might find this book interesting. Definitely makes the Katie Vick storyline that appeared on TV seem less crazy. Though that storyline probably could have been executed better.
However, part of the book does go fast, and seem rushed. And it cuts off in late 98. Obviously more has happened in the lives of the "Brothers of Destruction" since then.
Bottom line, if your a big fan of Kane or the Undertaker, this book is a must have. If your not a very big fan of wrestling or aren't interested for a more in depth look into the storylines of Kane, this book probably isn't for you.
