5.0 out of 5 stars Seek's Best Work Ever!, November 7, 2003
This review is from: Journey Into Day (Audio CD)
I have been a SEEK fan for 5 years, and this album is fantastic. The production is so smooth, the vocals are amazing, and the sound is everything you'd look for when in the mood for a perfect groove. It has what will be classic tracks, an Incognito sound, hints of Sade and in their own SEEK style. This album is a must have, you can listen to it 10 times and always hear something new. We've been waiting for this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seek and Ye Shall Find., March 31, 2004
By
This review is from: Journey Into Day (Audio CD)
Atlanta-based Seek's third album, "Journey into Day," is a fine disc of chilled underground soul featuring real instruments and gritty vocals. The group fuses old school vibes with nu jazz, and as a result, comparisons to the more familiar Incognito will be inevitable. But "Journey into Day" shows that Seek really does have an identity of its own. "Rise" and "Open the Way" are finely crafted with laid back grooves and flawless arrangements. They also stand out admirably on more mellow cuts like the relaxing title track and "Loving Heart," and they bring out the best in lead singer Lisa Terry's velvet-smooth voice. This is sensual and lively music that's a welcome diversion from the (sometimes) predictability of neo soul. The musicians (particularly bassist/guitarist Freddy Luster and drummer Brad Hasty) are on point, and the production is exceptionally classy. If you already have Sade, Incognito, and Maxwell in your music collection, then you'll love Seek's "Journey into Day."

5.0 out of 5 stars A monumental achievement for Atlanta's Seek!, May 3, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Journey Into Day (Audio CD)
A monumental achievement for Atlanta's Seek -- their greatest record to date, and an instant soul classic! The group have really come together wonderfully for this set -- hitting on all burners, from the sweet smooth instrumentation of the tracks, to the great lead vocals by singer Lisa Terry, to the impeccable production -- which is tighter than ever before, but never too slick, and always with some righteous touches to keep the sound strong. The whole thing's wonderful, and the album's one that we'll be listening to for years! Titles include "Open The Way", "Something Real", "Journey Into Day", "Some All Night Dancing", "Taken", and "Believe Me". US pressing features 2 bonus tracks -- "Right Here (Seekronized rmx)" and "Ever After (Tauriva rmx)". (Reviewed at www.dustygroove.com)

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a Great CD!, March 23, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Journey Into Day (Audio CD)
Seek does a great job at melding jazz, R&B and dance rhythms coupled with life-affirming lyrics into beautiful music. The album begins with a head-bopping start with "Open the Way." Other notable tracks include "Something Real," the title track and "Loving Heart." The raw recording and production add to the album's charm. It's all about live, smooth-groovin' music here, not Pro Tools assembly-line fodder.

The music is simply beautiful. This CD takes you to a nostalgic place; it recreates as much as it recalls. Music lovers, add this one to your collection. It fuses soulful sounds, mid-tempo grooves, and dance rhythms that definitely stir your soul. This band has so much talent.

I tend to listen to this album for weeks at a time and then put it away for stretches at a time and listen to a wide range of music, but every so often I will go to it as my way to make everything right again. Seek definitely has an amazingly groovy vibe on this album. I went out and bought their other two albums but this is their best effort. Every song is on point. Unfortunately, their name "Seek" is such a common word that they are hard to find on the internet. How does "Honey Seek" sound?...as in smooth as...

This was easily my best purchase of '08. I'm just sorry it took me this long to find these guys. Everyone I know who hears them wants to know who they are and where they can get it. It's just a shame groups like this don't get their rightful time on the airwaves, but you can fix all that by buying them right now! You won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Phenomenal Band --you've been waiting for this one, February 19, 2004

This album is their greatest record to date, and an instant soul classic! If you like Incognito, Brand New Heavies you will love Seek. This band has really come together wonderfully for this set -- hitting on all burners, from sweet smooth instrumentation to great lead vocals. The track "Journey into Day" is so eloquently composed, "Righ Here" dance remix is HOT. I love the rawness of their first album Venus and Mars, the dance and soulful jazzy sounds of the second album Surrender. This album is a combination of Seeks best work, a must have.

5.0 out of 5 stars True to the music, April 20, 2004

In my constant search for music that represents the art of instruments & meaningful lyrics, Seek is a gem. Creative song writing, melody, soul, jazz, and everything that makes a song a SONG encompasses this CD. Come to find out, there are two previous CD's from Seek - 1999 & 2002! AMAZING! This is the best CD I've purchased all year. You'll pop this one in forever, finally music that is really music.
