I have waited since Bob . . .,

This debut album by one of Bob Marley's sons, Ky-Mani, is sensational. From the opening track RudeBoy and all the way through to his version of The Lord is my Shepherd Ky-Mani's breathtaking vocal capabilities shine right through. Highlights are many and include the songs titled "Dear Dad" which is an emotional letter from Ky-Mani to his late father telling of how he misses him so. If you are a Marley fan or just a general reggae fan this album is a must.

One of the best and newest "Marley" talents,

This album is one of the best Raggae discs to come out in a long time. I was just in St. Lucia attending a Maxi Priest/Third World/Steel Pulse concert and during the band change, they played this album. Definately listen to "Warrior" and "Letter to Dad". Well done.

Good on SOOOO Many Levels!,

Ky-Mani Marley's debut album, The Journey, is more modernized than his older brother's music. His name means "adventurous traveler" and he does so on his album. He incorporates hip-hop, R&B, and mixing as well as folk into his music. The fourteen-track album ranges from topics like religion to partying. "Country Journey" is by far my favorite song. It features acoustic guitar with romantic lyrics and a catchy tune. It also has energetic bass. He talks about taking his loved one on a love journey. "Party's On" is about partying all night. It has more of a hip-hop feeling to it than reggae, but has excellent rhyme schemes. "Tom Drunk" is the deepest and most depressing of all the songs. It talks about a preacher that goes through hard times and ends up...abusing his family, and eventually killing himself. "Dear Dad" is a touching song about his relationship with his father, specifically about a childhood memory that he had. The hit single, "Warriors," is about those who disobey authority and smuggle ganja. It has a catchy chorus and excellent verses. This album is all-around good and should appeal to a wide range of audiences. It has little fluff; rather it is a soul-filled journey, as it is so aptly titled.

The best of Ky-mani!,

We were staying in a villa in St. John, playing poker. None of us had any decent music. We found an old cassette tape, that someone had made, of Ky-mani's "The Journey" left in a drawer. The villa had a tape player, so we played it. I had never heard "The Journey," but I was blown away. I knew I had to have the tape, so I stoled it.
The villa had a tape player, but I didn't. At least not a decent one. Who uses tape players anymore? I found an old one in my basement. It played the tape fine, for a while, but then it stopped working. I found another one in my attic. It played the tape, but not the right way. Something was wrong with it. No biggie. I just hopped on iTunes to download. Well, iTunes didn't have it. Then I went to BMG Music to buy it as a CD. BMG Music didn't have it. Enter Amazon. I should have went here first. Didn't find it as a CD, but found it as a MP3, and cheaper than iTunes. (If it were at iTunes.) So now we're in business! "The Journey" is, by far, Ky-Mani's best collection. Rude Boy, Fell in Love, Emporer, Dear Dad, the list goes on. Ky-Mani has a voice that will rock you, soothe you, make you feel good, make you relax. Thank you Amazon for having the "The Journey" available! Jolie du Pre

This is a very good, solid CD. Ky-Mani has a different sound than any of his brothers, and he sounds GOOD. Rude Boys is a good rollin' track, Ky-Mani's vocals are especially good here, a bit gravely and more raw that on some of the other tracks. Party's on is a nice little hip-hop kind of track; where ARE the keys to my Benz? This is an exremely enjoyable CD, I don't think anyone would be disappointed after purchasing it. It will do everything from make you want to get up and dance to silently cry when listening to "Dear Dad". Ky-Mani is GOOD, he ain't no pretender, he's talented and deserves any success he may find.

Kymani Marley has a great voice and the songs are catchy. I was hooked from the jump. I love Warriors and Country Journey. He sounds so much like his father. I would definitely say you will not be disappointed by this offering.

Astonishing,
This review is from: Journey (Audio CD)
I just love this CD. It has a bit of R&B, Reggae and Gospel. If you just listen to the lyrics, it will amaze you how Mr. Marley has left his gift to all of his children. In my opinion I think Ky-Mani is the closest in music to his dad. The message is loud and clear. It was very touching to me when he dedicated the letter to his dad. There is also another song that he sings as though he was singing to his wife that was very special. To me the whole CD is worth having in your collection. The music touches your heart but it also gets you up and dancing. I hope that he continues his journey in life because there is definitely a future. We always hear about the other Marleys, but this one is special. Give him a chance and he can be a legend of his own. I look forward to purchasing any upcoming CD's he put out.

By far the best song on the CD is Warriors. I dont know how he does it but he sounds like DMX yet still blends it wonderfully with that great voice that sounds like his dads. Good CD.
