This CD will make you move something on your body no matter how stiff you are. As far as I'm concerned I made a good choice in purchasing this CD even if it is over a decade old. It's just as good if not better than some of the newer releases that I have. A must have for any House music lover, or anybody that just has a love and appreciation for quality sound.

"JOURNEY WITH THE BEST",
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Journey With the Lonely (Audio CD)
I searched high and low for this cd and I finally found it on amazon.com -Yes, I am rejoicing!-This 1992 effort is LIL Louis at his best-This is a gem for your music collection-a wonderful combination of Acid Jazz meets House-the opener "Club Lonely" will have you and anybody else jumping up and down, a perfect workout-turn it up loud, you'll love it. Ditto for "New Dancebeat" Another gem is "Dancing In My Sleep" this jazzy, dreamy track will have you singing the addictive hook, snapping your fingers and tapping your feet. An awesome ballad "Share" will relax you and take you places Calgon never could. This cd is one of those cd for every occasion-put it on, press play and listen, wash the car, clean the house, have a party, make love.... all in that order! Journey with the best, "JOURNEY WITH THE LONELY" BY LIL LOUIS-you won't miss a beat.

Makes Me Proud To Be A Chicagoan!!!,

This album is the BOMB! From start to finish you can't help but move your feet! At the risk of sounding like the other reviewers I too must say that this album is nothing short of a masterpiece! Based on my feelings towards the previous album release I bought "Journey With The Lonely" right after its release. To play it 10 years later and have the same feeling now that I had then is a testament to the quality of the project. This album further proves that a dj -- whos primary focus is that of playing records -- can also have a degree of musicianship. 1992 saw a shift in the direction of House music in Chicago: jazz influences. This album lays down the perfect blueprint for anyone who needs a history lesson. "Club Lonely" has to be one of the few tracks in which the album version perfectly compliments the EP. Excellent vocals and a simple, but driving bassline. Then comes the perfect segue "New Dance Beats", continuing in the jazz chords and smooth basslines. "Saved My Life" and "Aahhhh!" are just 100% dance tracks. "Do U Luv Me" is a hypnotic melodic tune that is more subtle in the chords but it still has alot of punch to it. "You're My Reason" and "Dancing In My Sleep" feature wonderful vocals. "Funny How U Luv" is another obvious jass-infusion that moves the soul. Then there's "Thief" and my sleeper track - "Share", which is by far one of the most emotionally tugging songs I know of. The entire ablum makes me proud to be a Chicagoan!

Where have I been?,

I just bought this album for reasons I'm still unsure of. I live in Michigan, don't really listen to house, and I had never heard of Lil' Louis. As a matter of fact I wasn't even born when this album was released in 1982, but I bought it, and am truely sad I missed the rise the whole Chigago house scene. Listening to this made me want to get up and dance. The music is very uplifting and just makes me feel good. I think anybody who likes house, or is curious as to what it's about, should buy this album. And if you have seen Lil' Louis live...I'm jealous.

A House Classic....,

I still can't believe how this stands up to most of the over-produced 4/4 garbage out there! I've had this album since its release in '91. This release proved that Dance/Electronica could be taken as seriously as any other genre. One of the best solid electronic/ house LPs ever!! Great vocals by Joi Cardwell and others, combining jazz and house. The pre-cursor to Naked Music. Take a lesson!!!

I can not believe this album did not receive more recognition. When I owned the cassette, I played it so much it wore out. If you want to hear/feel true Chicago House--get it! Thanks Amazon for making it available to those of us who no longer live in Chicago.

Not a bad track anywhere!,

It's very rare these days to buy a CD & enjoy EVERY track. Club Lonely is probably my favorite, however its the kind of cd where you can push the random button & just sit back. Its hard to believe Lil Louis hit a home run on every track, but he did! This is an extremely polished & cohesive compilation. He found the right hook, the right baselines, the right melodies for every song. If you are into house with a jazzy flavor, this is a must have! Its absolutely timeless.

... with this EXTREMELY smooth yet hoppin' seminal dance CD. Rarely does a deejay get everything right on the same record, but Louis does here. A deep dish of Chicago house music: lush, rich and ambient. You can dance around to it or just put it on and let the mood take you over. Faves are "Reason," "Saved My Life," and the superb "New Dance Beat."

Took my back to the early 80's at the Music Box in Chicago. I love it and hope that more individuals could get down like Lil Louis and the late Ron Hardy did.
