Very good musical journey around Portugal, October 26, 1999

Because I'm fond of traditional music, this CD is on the TOP of my preferences. The group Vá-de-Viró accomplished a very good mix of traditional instruments, giving us the real sound of these songs. I'm glad that they have produced a second CD ("Vivências" - Experiences of Life), which I've purchased on the first moment, after the discover of their web page on va-de-viro.web.pt. This last work of the group continues with a splendid journey around Portugal, now combining new approaches and sounds to the traditional portuguese song. Just great!

This CD was one of the best of it's type that I have purchased to date. It offers a mix of music from ALL over Portugal, from the Azores (Chamarrita) to Madeira (Camacha) and all over the mainland. The singing is clear and relaxing. The cover is an information pamphlet that provides you with a brief history of the folkloric traditions or musical instruments known to certain regions of Portugal. I really enjoyed the reading and it's a must buy for anyone who enjoys the history and sounds of Portuguese folklore.
