This gentleman writes for the everyday person needing to see the world through a spiritual eye and understand its crazy ups and downs. Although he is the leader of a Religious Organization (non denominational type spiritual path), he is quite humble and never takes the 'guru' type stance. He says that we each have our inner teachers/masters and that to find God we only need to learn to look within. Well--lots of 'gurus' say that too---but he has a twist. He gives techniques, called Spiritual Exercises that help you to quiet the mind and get your inner answers to life's questions yourself--WITHOUT relying on anyone outside. He is a master himself from what Eckankar teaches, but reading his words he always directs you within to the 'Mahanta'--the inner master name for this path. There really are NO conflicts with organized religious beliefs as he states over and over everyone is on the right path for THEM, and the techniques and advice he offers are yours to use as you wish--for your own spiritual benefit. If you prefer Jesus or Buddha,or just 'light' as your image of a teacher and God-- then tweak the exercise that way. He encourages the imagination, and offers insight into the sounds you might hear and the light you might see as you look within to find God. Didn't Jesus keep saying the "Kingdom of Heaven is within you"?

I REALLY LIKED THE HUMILITY AND ease with which he addresses his members. The book is a transcript of many talks so it is directed at members but applies all around to everyone. I found it uplifting, practical, and felt wonderfully at peace...almost like it opened my understanding of my own situation and life....and gave me more acceptance of my family and friends and their unique, individual spirituality. I am ok, you are ok---with a twist of personal experience in spiritual worlds. When you live your life with the added insights of your own inner guidance, you feel great love in your heart--and you are closer to finding God. GREAT read.

To me, this hits the mark for terrific stories of various journeys home, home to God, home to love. Trying some of the spiritual exercises included here can change our lives.
