5.0 out of 5 stars Very good if it is your first look at the BIble
This is a excellent Bible. It is only the second Bible I read, but I was pleased. I am a skeptic wanting to learn more about the Christian look at God. I have belief in God and am not atheist, but am very unsure about any details.

3.0 out of 5 stars It is okay
This was an item on my husbands Christmas list. He says it is okay, but likes my Quest Study Bible better. He is reading it, but not with as much enthusiasm and I thought he would.

This is a excellent Bible. It is only the second Bible I read, but I was pleased. I am a skeptic wanting to learn more about the Christian look at God. I have belief in God and am not atheist, but am very unsure about any details.

This Bible has a clear language, and contans a lot of notes. You often feel you have a friend who knows more trying to explain things to you, they guess some of our questions.

Some notes tell modern stories, some give you advice, some others simply analyse things that are not as obvious as they seem.

The intro made me feel very comfortable and it states that you won't be pushed into anything, just read it and then see how you feel about it all.

If you are not a believer yet, this is the Bible for you.

I only wish I ordered the hardcover instead of the flimsy paperback. The ink also smells terribly, but when it comes to content, it is very well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Seeker's Bible, May 27, 1999

"The Journey" is a very user-friendly NIV Bible that is particularly geared toward the seeker. The testimonies, insert boxes throughout and introductions for each new chapter bring the messages of the Bible into a contemporary context. These 'helpers' enhance the reader's understanding of key messages in the Bible and help guide the reader throughout. The personal stories at the end of each book remind the seeker that they 'aren't the only ones' and really personalize the experience of reading the Bible and understanding its potential in the world we live in today. I would recommend "The Journey" to every seeker and Christian alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Journey, NIV, May 10, 2001

What a great Bible for seekers! This Bible is a subtle, yet provocitive study that lets you make your own decisions and leads you in the right direction. At first, I didn't consider myself a seeker, but I learned that anybody with the slightest spiritual calling should consider the question "Why seek God?"

4.0 out of 5 stars A Journey for those with 20/20 Vision, February 12, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Journey: The Study Bible for Spiritual Seekers (New International Version) (Paperback)
This study Bible has excellent commentary on why Christians believe and behave as they do. It encourages you to think on your own, and find your own answers in the scripture. I am now on my third copy of The Journey. My first two were loaned out, and I guess the loanees needed it more than they felt I did.

The New International Version (NIV) is the translation used, and it is a straight forward translation. However, the print is amazingly small. I could only read this in short segments. If you get eyestrain easily, you will need a magnifying glass.

I thoroughly enjoy reading the Journey Bible for my personal devotion time. I like the different type of paper used because it makes it easier to write notes, and mark and highlight passages. I also love the info boxes throughout the text. They are very insightful and informative. The Five Alive Reading is a wonderful reading plan for not only new bible readers but also for mature Christians. This bible is very special to me since it's the bible I use during my personal time with the Lord and I have so many insights recorded.

I've been a Christian for most of my life and The Journey gives a fresh look at how seekers, skeptics and seasoned believers understand God's word. Highly recommended. NIV translation.

A very usable source for Bible research and study. Well organized with down-to-earth explanations. These Bibles were purchased to give to young men at a State minimum security facility for group Bible study and discussion.

NIV is easy to read and understand for all ages. With this study Bible, you can read and use and discuss the little vignettes and stories if you want. these pieces are inserted so as not to distract from just simply reading what you want.I would recommend this for anyone.
