Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Once fabled as the forgotten Eden and land of the forbidden fruit, this tropical garden paradise lures thousands of visitors each year.

These 115 islands in the sun, jade jewels in the sparkling turquoise of the Indian Ocean, just four degrees south of the Equator, were separated from the mainland millions of years ago, remote and unspoiled, developing unique flora and fauna.

Little has changed. First settled in the seventeenth century, the islands remain much the same as they were thousands of years ago, existing in harmony the past 200 years with a people as sunny and carefree as their tropical home.

From the Publisher
The 70,000 Seychellois are a fusion of three continents - Africa, Asia, and Europe - speaking Creole, French, and English, who live on twenty-one islands. The other ninety-four isles - among them the only oceanic islands in the world made of granitic rock - remain uninhabited gardens of delight awaiting exploration.

On these tropic, treasure isles, set in a turquoise sea against a backdrop of magnificent mountains, lush with palms and tropical vegetation, the echoes of life's beginnings can still be heard. Now their beauty, and the magic of their many unique creatures and plants are captured in the superb color photography of Mohamed Amin and Duncan Willetts with a memorable text by Adrian Skerrett.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK- Not wonderful but not bad either, April 14, 2002
By A Customer
This is a decent book- it has a good deal of history and description. I was expecting the photos to be of better quality however. One virtue is that there are photos of a number of places that are far off the beaten path.
