Book Description

1996
From the book: "Being whole means psychological well-being emanates from our very foundation, and allows us to radiate loving, creative, and healing energy in all parts of our lives. This book is about reclaiming this state of wellness. It can guide you on the path to the psychological and spiritual well-being you seek." Everyone can heal. Everyone can choose their destination and the quality of their journey. No matter how difficult your life has been up to this point, you have the capacity for change. Some of you may travel quickly, others may need a longer route, but each and every one of you can be successful. Healing is a rebirthing, where we shed the old skins, the old beliefs, the old fears and start new. It is about freeing ourselves from the trauma and wounds. All that we need is the desire, the commitment, and the courage. So often people carry shame and guilt about past errors or perhaps simply past breaks from convention. These feelings hold us back, keep us stuck. Ironically, it may be these "shameful" experiences were exactly what we needed to become fully "Ourselves" Perhaps without these "errors" we would lack some essential quality for our ultimate wholeness

4.0 out of 5 stars A Journey That's Well Worth Every Step, February 6, 2006

This review is from: Journey to Wholeness: A Guide to Inner Healing (Paperback)
Judith Corvin-Balckburn clearly outlines six major steps we must take on our "Journey to Wholeness." It starts with an "Awareness" of where we may be stuck. Then, we must allow ourselves to feel our "Feelings." As the author states, "We need to give ourselves information that affirms it is life-enhancing and, therefore, necessary, to experience and express our feelings." The step of "Emotional and Cognitive Healing" involves work with our inner child to "establish a healthy, nurturing, protective connection with these parts to change the self-defeating beliefs, and safely release the emotional energy that has kept us stuck in the old wounding." Step Four involves "Getting In Touch With Our Authentic Selves" to discover who we really are. Then, the author emphasizes the roles of "Relationship" and intimacy. Finally, step six talks about our "Intuitive Guidance." The book gives hope that we can reach this level: "Our relationship with the Divine becomes based on our inner experience rather than on accepted religious tenants." It also predicts, "Fear and guilt are no longer motivating forces in our lives. Love and consciousness have taken their place." This is a profoundly spiritual book by a deeply spiritual woman. In my personal experience with her as a therapist, I can truly say that Corvin-Blackburn walks the spiritual "talk." I traveled three hours each way for appointments to work with this therapist. Now, you simply must walk to your bookshelf to benefit from the wisdom and experience that comes through in this book. And, although it is written on a spiritual level, the book is easy to understand, follow and implement. A wonderful accomplishment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book- excellent for creating emotional health on a deep level, December 9, 2005
This review is from: Journey to Wholeness: A Guide to Inner Healing (Paperback)
This book presents a wonderful way to grow and heal emotionally and to improve all aspects of your life. As a psychotherapist, I have used the concepts in Judith's book as the foundation for my practice of counseling- they have that much healing power. The concepts presented in this book help my clients create a stronger sense of self, positive belief systems, and deep inner healing.I recommend this book to my clients and I highly recommend it to all of you who wish to be healthy and happy.
