This first of four volumes explores the archeological findings in China from over 1.7 million years ago through the Fifth Century B.C.E.. The color plates of the objects and art are excellent. The discussions and explanations of both the archeological period and the purpose of each object are thorough. The text includes descriptions of when and where ruins were discovered and excavated. This book was well worth reading and owning.
