5.0 out of 5 stars Like taking flight in an open cockpit plane on the journey, January 21, 1999

This review is from: The Journeys of St. Paul (Reader's Digest, Bible Wisdom for Today) (Hardcover)
This is a concise and clear image of the kind of reception and response given and taken on Paul's missionary journeys. A good first place to start and to prepare oneself before taking a pilgrimage today.

4.0 out of 5 stars St. Pauls Missions: An Illustrated Book of Acts, June 11, 2006
This review is from: The Journeys of St. Paul (Reader's Digest, Bible Wisdom for Today) (Hardcover)
Journeys of St. Paul:

Paul, the apostle to the nations, spread the word throughout the roman Empire. An avid traveler, St. Paul traveled in Asia Minor, Greece, Cyprus, Italy. He preached the good news wherever he arrived at the old cities of Antioch in Syria, or Ephesus in Turkey, Corinth and Philippi. Set against the early Church background of the ancient Middle East, "Journeys of St. Paul" follows the missionary excursions in its historical chronology and natural geography.

Paul's journeys refer to many different geographical locations, that you may need to look into a maps of Paul's journeys around the Mediterranean. Four maps are provided in the book for his first, second, and third missionary journeys, and his voyage to Rome, where he met a martyr's death.

Pictures & Maps:

A Picture Is Worth One Thousand Words: Derived from an original Chinese proverb, the quotation has imprecisely been translated as such. It became a popular proverb, anonymously coined, that complex stories can be told with just a single image, or a map may be more explanatory than a substantial amount of text, a better translation is: One Picture Can Express Ten Thousand Words. Utilizing classic works of art, stained glass and recent photography of Via Appia, in Rome, and the historical and archaeological locations recorded in the New Testament Book of Acts, with the events of Paul's life, and letters to provide a spiritual reading of its meaning.

Bible Wisdom for Today:

This slim but informative book was designed as a contemporary coffee table companion, consisting of short entries on the chapters of the book of acts, with a concise account of Paul's own faith journey, his writing companion; Luke the physician, and a brief glimpse of his missions. In addition to a biography, the book includes brief information on the visited cities with a map. A special feature of the book is how those stories are relevant as a 'message for Today.'

This review is from: The Journeys of St. Paul (Reader's Digest, Bible Wisdom for Today) (Hardcover)
I loved this book. It was so much easier to learn about the 3 missionary journeys of St. Paul in chronological order and it helped me understand the book of Acts better too.
