5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic
When I first started belly dancing when I was 13 (more years in the past than I care to admit to), this was the music my teacher used in class. 3.0 out of 5 stars great music - but...
I had this years ago as an LP. Recently got the CD - the music is still gorgeous but the recording (on CD) sounds like it was recorded in a tunnel (which is why I'm rating it as 3 stars instead of 5)

When I first started belly dancing when I was 13 (more years in the past than I care to admit to), this was the music my teacher used in class. While I love this CD for the nostalgia, it is also a timeless classic with beautiful traditional Middle Eastern music that is very easy to dance to. Students will find the shorter pieces fun and, because of the clear rhythms, easy to learn fingers cymbals to. Experienced dancers can use the longer pieces for a whole routine. All in all, a well-rounded belly dance CD, with something for everyone.

this CD contains the most popular belly dancing music tunes that have become classics. It is most enjoyable for listening as well as for dancing. Great entertaining music for a typically Middle Eastern mood. I highly recommend it for all who appreciate multicultural music.

This is a classic CD that you use for everything from performances to parties to filler music at dance recitals. I am buying it because my puppy chewed up my old one. Can't live without it! And of course, there is that wonderful picture of Julianna on the cover.

4.0 out of 5 stars My first and favorite belly dancing album, July 16, 2011

This review is from: Joy of Belly Dancing (Audio CD)
I first got this album as a record (which I still have) in the early 1970s, and while it isn't all great, enough of it is that I haven't found any better middle eastern music albums since then, and I was thrilled to find it both still exists and has been made into a CD. I am still dancing two of the dances I created then to the same wonderful songs.

This cd is perfect for the sophisticated listener of Arabic music. I don't think someone will like this if they are not familiar with Arabic music because it has a lot of folklore music. I love Raks Mustafa, that song is old and a classic and George Abdo does it best. Look on youtube and see how many versions there are!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice to listen to, but some pieces are too long, July 27, 2001
By
This review is from: Joy of Belly Dancing (Audio CD)
Maybe because I'm just starting out in belly-dancing, I find that although the long pieces are nice to listen to, I can't really visualise dancing to them, unlike the way I do with the shorter, more rhythmic pieces.
