5.0 out of 5 stars Joy and Joy, April 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Joy & Pain (Audio CD)
This is a wonderful debut, all done almost completly solo. Moa's Voice sounds much like Beth Gibbons of Portishead, The beats best relate Massive Attack, and a couple of (Jamiroquai) sounds. Her voice is wonderful, hinting jazzy tunes, and quite sensual. I really liked this album. Every new trip-hopper brings something new to the scene, Moa made a wonderful Jazz contribution. The samples are very catchy and this is the music that defines good dance music at its peak.

4.0 out of 5 stars Móa - Joy & Pain (Don't You Believe Me), January 23, 2012
This review is from: Joy & Pain (Audio CD)
So on the remixes of Móa's JOY & PAIN, Victor Calderone offers his club version, which strips out the jazzy elements of the original in favor of more generic high-energy diva-based stomping (his dub eliminates her vocals altogether, except for some digitized whispering). Dimitri from Paris, on his "French Touch" mix, retains more of the original feel, while introducing some dancefloor-friendly breaks (his "Joy & Beats" mix has a more solid 4/4 beat). Terranova gives her a darker, slower rub, and the moodiness suits the track well, focusing more on the 'pain' part of the title.
