5.0 out of 5 stars Feels like the next step in the evolution of yoga!, April 26, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Joy of Partner Yoga (Paperback)
It's difficult to find anything really unique in yoga these days-But this book is it! Sure the concept of partner yoga has been presented before, But not like this. Here, the `practice' transcends to communal ceremony...as playful as you like, yet leading to sensitive, divine connection. And, it's not limited to asanas ....All maya koshas are honored: (physical/breath/ mental-emotional/ intuitive/and bliss bodies). And, I really like the descriptions of the chakras and using mudras with a partner (so creative and original).
ALSO, The photos are gorgeous! The author's writing is as eloquent and inspired as the quotes! (a `non-yoga' friend wants the book just to `look at' ) However, it also works on the practical level: guiding you through developing and varying your very own practice...gentle or more challenging.
I believe this practice is possible for any two people. I've tried it with partners not my size or degree of flexibility; just use that open mind and a blanket to adjust height. Your reward will be `Namaste' experienced throughout the practice!

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful, heartfelt celebration of partner yoga, April 22, 2004

This book is a real gift for those of us who love yoga!
The positions are really original and innovative, as well as gorgeous to look at. The author encourages her readers to let go of perfection and to embrace connection instead. The postures are a nice blend of both the practical and the spiritual, as well as both the simple and the more challenging. I love the chapter on Mudras (symbolic hand gestures). I've never seen examples of partnered mudras before and they are just beautiful.
The photographs are amazing as well - you just want to keep this book nearby so you can look at it regularly for inspiration. I plan to give this to friends as gifts - it's really special.

5.0 out of 5 stars Partner Yoga Classic, May 4, 2009
This review is from: The Joy of Partner Yoga (Paperback)
This book was the first one I used in search of Partner Yoga poses. I love the format of the book, the completeness of the sections and the flow of this book, from breathing to vinyasas to be shared with a partner. The photography is beautifully done and along with the instructions, the reader can really get the idea of how to move into and out of the poses.

If you are going to purchase one book for Partner Yoga - this is the one I would recommend - I go back to this book over and over again!

We're loving this book, though it is almost overwhelming it's so packed full of information, asanas, and sets of positions. We've actually been having a hard time putting together series, if only because you turn the page and BAM, here's even MORE you can integrate. What happens is that we either wind up sitting on the floor looking at the book and having a rather disjointed partner yoga session, or we just pick a couple of things at random and attempt to integrate them into a growing routine, because it seems near impossible to try and remember it all without looking, and looking again. Information-wise, it's my favorite partner yoga book out there right now, because it's chock-full, but we've got to figure out a better way to put it to use!

I bought this book to broaden my partner options for public classes & found just a few things I could use. But for deepening a relationship this is fabulous!
I wished I had known how intimate the sequences were before buying

5.0 out of 5 stars This is an amazing Book, February 21, 2011

This review is from: The Joy of Partner Yoga (Paperback)
I have nothing bad to say about this book. I have another partner yoga book that I have used for the past two Valentines Days for my partner yoga clinic. The other book is good but nothing like this one! What I really like about this book is that it has vinyasas (or flowing yoga series), not just single poses to try. There is a wide variety of vinyasas and poses that can work for a lot of different demographics. I used it for this year's partner yoga clinic and it went over very well.

One thing we found was that the poses and flows that looked hardest were the easiest (and most fun to try)...and the ones that looked easy were quite challenging. I, for one, felt very connected to my partner when we worked on poses and flows and finally succeeded. There is a high sense of accomplishment as a partnership in working on these challenges.

I highly highly recommend this particular book for anyone willing to take the challenge with their partner!
