Let's take a look at Mike's thoughts for a minute:
"My new girlfriend has old-fashioned hair and clothing styles. She appears out of nowhere. She always wears the same outfit. Her flask of gin is never empty. When I introduce her to my friends, they look at me weirdly and laugh about me behind my back. When we order at a restaurant, the waiter does not look at her once, and comments that I must be extra thirsty to order two drinks...maybe she's a ghost? No way. I'm going to drink & drive and almost crash. I'm going to drink so much I lose entire days. I'm going to skip school and get cut from the basketball team. I'm going to steal from my mom and rob a liquor store."
Definitely good choices...lol

Above all, how does a ghost have a flask of gin that a human can drink out of? How does a ghost drive a car? Is that even remotely possible? I always thought ghosts could not really touch things (without draining their power for a long time at least) and I have never heard of a ghost driving around town in a real car... I will give the book a little credit though: the maggot and worm scenes were pretty good.
