With their second cd, 60 Ft Dolls continue in a style similar to that found on their first cd, The Big 3. More summertime power pop is in order, with the simple and straightforward declarations of love and longing in titles like "Baby Says Yeah" and "I Want You."

The disc opens with the single "Allison's Room," which is pretty good, but not as great as some of their other singles, such as "Happy Shopper," or "Stay." Next comes the hard charging power pop of "Let it Show," and the summery and shimmering pop of "Baby Says Yeah." The Dolls then declare that "Summer's Gone," only to go "Back to the Summer" two songs later, augmented with horns.

Lyrics about the summer and falling in love with movie stars do pop up occasionally on this disc. But that doesn't mean it is "sissy punk" at all. The other reviewer of this cd complained of a lack of hardcore tunes, but I would say that the Stoogey "Pretty Little Thing" fits the bill with its gruff vocals, supercharged riffs, and banging piano.

"I Want You" is probably my favorite song on this cd, and the most memorable. The band definitely shows off their talents for melody and supercharged riffing on this tune, which features a nice horn break.

Overall, the Dolls manage to bring magic and joy on nearly every track on this cd, so it's too bad they broke up after its release.

If you are a power pop fan, get this disc if you can find it-- it's pretty rare.

i had first heard of 60 ft dolls from a freind that had this cd. When i listened to it i thought that it was great music. the 1 thing that it lacks is a hardcore song. on all punk rok cd's you need to have at least 1 hardcore song that you could mosh to. they are a good sissy punk band like Lagwagon but they would be better off being more hardcore punk.
