Product Description

Make your round wok work with your electric stove with Joyce Chen's stainless-steel wok ring--the ring lifts any round-bottom wok above the heat source and stabilizes it. You can also use it on the dinner table to steady the wok for serving. Cleans up easily in sudsy water.

Product Description

Joyce Chen's slogan "Eastern Cookware for the Western Kitchen," reflects her focus on providing high-quality, versatile tools and products that have Asian flair, but can be used in a western kitchen. The Chrome Steel Wire Wok Ring fits any round bottom Wok and is a handy kitchen addition. Joyce Chen opened her first restaurant in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1958. The restaurant flourished, and in 1973 a larger Cambridge restaurant was opened. Chen also began writing Chinese cookbooks and in the 1970s began hosting a cooking show on public television. She found that the selection and quality of Chinese cookware in America didn't live up to her high standards¿ so she developed her own. Today, Joyce Chen Products come from all over the Pacific Rim to bring the best of Asia to you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but not what I wanted, February 16, 2009
This review is from: Joyce Chen J31-0063 Chrome Steel Wire Wok Ring (Kitchen)
I'd been wanting one of these for ages, so was eager to try it out on the stove - but it was a disappointment in the end. It slides around a lot, so never feels particularly safe (although I guess to be fair this has as much to do with the stove as anything; others may have better luck with that aspect), and raises the wok too high above the flame for my purposes. I've found it's easier to balance the wok on the burner, and to use the wok ring as a stand on the table - for which purpose it works perfectly!

I ordered this wire wok ring. The wire was broken in two places, and very poorly made.I was very disapointed with it.My husband said he could try to fix it, but I said it's not worth it, nor wasting my time sending it back.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential for High-BTU Gas Burner, May 2, 2011

This review is from: Joyce Chen J31-0063 Chrome Steel Wire Wok Ring (Kitchen)
Solid construction. Plenty of airflow for gas burner and heat rising up the sides of a wok.

The distance between the bottom of your wok and the burner will depend on the curvature of your wok. So, it may or may not be the proper diameter/height depending on the curvature of your wok and how high your burner sits.

On my Heartland range, I remove the grate and put this ring directly on the part of the cooktop that contains spills and boiled over liquids. As a result, the ring is very steady and the bottom of my wok sits just a fraction of an inch from the inner flame of my burner; the positioning is perfect!

I've tried other rings and none of them worked. Basically, all the others are short, solid aluminum or steel chimneys with a few holes for air circulation. But, this chimney style of wok is for electric ranges, not gas. They don't provide for enough oxygen for my high-BTU burner. And, the heat is trapped in within the chimney so it doesn't lap up the sides of the wok. The bottom center of the wok gets warm/hot but the rest stays cold.

If you want a wok ring for a gas range, you must get a wire one like this. And the only wire ring I can find is this brand, Joyce Chen.
