I bought this cutting board based upon Cook's Illustrated's review. As seems always to be the case, they were right on... it is an excellent board.
Pros: - great cutting feel (a LOT like a good wooden board) - lightweight - fits in the dishwasher Cons: - as both sides of the board are meant to be used, neither side has rubber feet to keep it from sliding under the knife. I use a damp towel or washcloth that holds it rock-steady. Recommended.

We have an assortment of cutting boards of various sizes and material. The board is a nice mid-range size. We don't take great care of our boards so some of the woods ones have warped and cracked. The plastic seems to absorb the chopping action better than our other boards.

This cutting board is easy to use and fits in the dishwasher. It does slide,so I use a towel underneath it.

Solid white board that can go in the dishwasher - that's why I got it. Won't harm knives. Very durable. Red dot on one side and green on the other - basically useless, but there nevertheless.

I needed a large cutting board to replace a simlarly sized one that was showing its wear after 20 years. This board fit the bill and is reasonably priced. I'm very happy after a month of use that this board has neither warped or cracked, which was the case of the two other boards I had tried from my local discount store.
I would buy this board again in an instant.

I like the red dot to signal (if you like) that as your raw meat cutting side. Dishwasher safe.

This is simply a horrible cutting board. It is three times as thick as it needs to be, and very heavy for it's size. I own one board that is twice as large as this one and weights half as much. It also slides all over my counter while I'm using it making it a major pain to use. It's difficult to scoop foods up off it 'cause you need a third hand to hold it still. Same thing when you try to pick it up -- it just slides across the counter. I have never seen another cutting board do that.
I wish I could get my money back on this. I'm not sure what to do with it as it's just a piece of garbage now. It is totally useless. Well maybe not totally useless. I suppose I could use it for target practice, or throw it in my car trunk for added weight to improve my traction in the winter. It would be an interesting conversational piece as an unusual doorstop. I could put it on top of my garbage can lid as added weight to keep the raccoons out. Add wheels to it & use it as a skateboard. Maybe use it to patch the hole in the garage wall. I could use it as a barbell during my workouts. Well what ever I end up doing with it I won't be using it as a cutting board because that is one thing it most certainly isn't. |
