Don't You Dare Borrow These Scissors From Me (I can't live without them),
By
This review is from: Joyce Chen Unlimited Scissor, White (Kitchen)
Need to cut a chicken in half? No problem. Zip, Snip, Snap. Want to add slivers of fresh herbs to your meal? Snip, Snip, Snip and they're cut easily and with precision. Want to cut up round steak for a stir-fry? A few snips and it's all done in nice even pieces.I do more food prep with these scissors than I do with with my good knives! What I don't do (so as not to dull the blades) is cut up paper and cardboard (but, I do admit those impenetrable plastic packages are made short work of with these babies). I've owned these scissors for years now.. no dulling, and still in great shape. Yet, I'm so paranoid about losing them that I have a spare pair stashed away -- still in their unopened box.

Will cut up a steel-belted radial,

OK, maybe not. But it will make short work of a chicken or one of those imprenetrable plastic blister packs that everything is packaged in these days. These are the sharpest, hardest, most ergonomic kitchen shears I've ever had. Get these and toss the ones that came with the Ginsu knife set.

for a light weight of a kitchen scissors, it's not that bad at cutting chicken bones. it doesn't cut through clean, but it still does the job without you having to strain too much. it does rust easily in the dishwasher, all i do is handwash it. for the price it's not that bad of a buy.

best kitchen scissor,
This review is from: Joyce Chen Unlimited Scissor, White (Kitchen)
This scissor is deceptive - it looks small and thin - but i have a number of bigger and more expensive kitchen scissors and none are as good as this one. Don't be fooled by its looks - it's the best kitchen scissor you will ever buy. I highly recommend it.

The description claims that these scissors are good for use in the kitchen but I think that needs some clarification. The cutting edge of the blades is only about an inch and a half long! The "Torque engineering" that is referred to can surely only mean that the handles are longer than the blades and so providing a gain due to leverage - other than that there is nothing really different compared to 'regular' scissors. When the description refers to chicken bones does it really mean just chicken ribs and cartlidge? The pivot is a simple rivet - pretty basic (and cheap) for a relatively expensive pair of scissors. Such a simple rivet also means that you can't take the blades apart. The scissors do work OK as regular scissors i.e. for cutting paper, plastic packaging etc. but no more so than any other reasonably well made, and possibly less expensive, design.

Joyce Chen's scissors are great in the kitchen and the garden for everything from chicken breasts to roses. About the only thing they don't cut are thick rosemary branches (use your pruning shears on those). I've been buying them from Amazon to give as gifts for over a year, and everyone who has received a pair continues to comment on how much they love them. I like the choice of colors, too. See my blog review on them at [...].

Recommended by a jeweler craftswoman...really nice in the hand, sliced thru my non-ferrous metals like butter. Hope they keep their sharp edge, cuz I want to use them for a long time. My jeweler's shears don't do as well, harder to use. Score!

Back in the late 70's I owned a Deli & seafood resturant in Wyoming USA, we served every thing right up to live Lobster, Watching Joyia Childs on GMA, she used the Joyce Chen Scissors to cut the lobster , I ordered 24 scissors for my restuarent because she made cutting and eating the lobster so much easier. over the years since I started to lost those 24 wonderful scissors until I was down to one that ended up in my wife's tack room, I ordered two "bright red" scissors just to have in my home kitchen here in Florida. These scissors are so great that the other regualar type scissors I put out in the tack room. They are great as a Gift that will be remembered for years.

Fantastic Scissors,

I first purchased these scissors several years ago. I find them to be so handy for so many things that I now keep a pair in almost every room of the house -- very convenient whenever I need them. About the only tasks I don't use them for are when I need to cut long lengths of fabric or long pieces of gift wrap paper, because those tasks require scissors with long blades -- but for everything else, they're absolutely wonderful - and comfortable. Last Christmas I decided to give these scissors as gifts to many of the people on my list, and everyone who received them tells me that, like me, they also use them every day for just about everything. Probably the most appreciated little gifts I've ever given. Buy them - you won't be sorry. Well worth the money and a great value. RFS
