This is a valuable addition to Schork's previous studies of Greek and Roman culture in Joyce. Done with wit and balance, it's an excellent resource for those who are unfamiliar with the pre-Vatican II Catholic milieu in which Joyce functioned as well as a refresher trip down memory lane (note deliberate cliche) for those of us indoctrinated by traditional Catholic education.
